Château de Varennes is a 400-year-old estate in South Burgundy, set within 100 acres of private parkland amid vineyards near Beaune. A standout wedding venue in Burgundy, it has been fully renovated to modern standards and is recognised by CNN as one of the top ten wedding venues in the world.
The château is home to a rare consecrated private chapel, allowing for official religious ceremonies without leaving the grounds. Event options include the formal gardens, tree-lined avenues, or the Orangery a fully refurbished banquet space for 200 guests. Outdoor ceremonies can take place beneath century-old trees or beside fields of lavender, which are in bloom from late May to mid-July.
Its proximity to major cities such as Paris, Lyon, and Geneva ensures convenient access, while the warm, dry climate allows for open-air celebrations from April through October. The estate offers full privacy and an exceptional infrastructure for large-scale events.
Accommodation:
The estate sleeps up to 60 guests across 27 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms. The main chateau holds 17 individually styled rooms, from an ultra-luxury honeymoon suite to family suites and deluxe options, each blending heritage décor with modern comforts.
Outbuildings provide additional double and twin rooms, appointed with marble bathrooms and Hermès fabrics. Six contemporary cottage bedrooms feature ensuite facilities, offering a private retreat within the grounds. All rooms include eco-friendly toiletries, fine linens, and thoughtful touches for comfort. Baby cots and extra beds are available in larger rooms, with a ground-floor suite and kitchenette catering to guests requiring easier access.
Amenities:
The chateau’s leisure and event spaces are designed for versatility and style. The Orangery offers a 230 m² banquet hall, professional kitchens, and modern facilities for up to 200 guests. Outdoor spaces include a large heated pool with Europe’s largest shade sail, a tennis court, playground, and one of France’s biggest in-ground trampolines.
Landscaped gardens feature pear-lined gravel paths, lavender fields, and a private park with trails for cycling or jogging. Seasonal produce from the kitchen garden inspires menus by Michelin-trained chefs, who can craft cuisines from classic French to global specialities. Event setups range from garden terraces to poolside receptions.
