About the Venue

Situated just 10 km from Beaune in the heart of Burgundy, the Domaine de l’Abbaye de Maizières is a remarkable 750-hectare estate featuring an original 12th-century Cistercian abbey. This historic site includes a château formed from one surviving abbey wing, along with a park encompassing vineyards, ponds, an orchard, mill, and chapel. Maizières was once home to monks who developed renowned Côte de Beaune wines including Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. Today, the fully restored estate offers exceptional settings for weddings, including the orangery for up to 300 guests, 13th-century vaulted cellars for cocktail receptions, and a grand 200 m² hall for up to 150 guests.

The estate's architectural integrity has been preserved throughout, with sustainable restoration methods honouring its spiritual and historical legacy. Located near famous Burgundy wine villages like Chassagne-Montrachet and Savigny-lès-Beaune, the Domaine provides couples with an exceptional wedding experience surrounded by heritage, unspoiled nature, and refined French craftsmanship.

Accommodation

Guests are accommodated across 33 rooms on the estate. The Château de Maizières features 8 luxurious rooms, including a 120 m² apartment suite. The nearby Novice Village provides 10 unusual eco-designed lodgings for 28 guests. A further 14 rooms in the outbuildings offer a total on-site capacity of approximately 80 guests.

The historic Abbé's Mansion, once home to Maizières’ abbot, adds five additional rooms and suites with high-end linen, private bathrooms, and access to exclusive facilities including a spa, tennis court, and swimming pool. For larger gatherings, the Hamlet of Forty Acres adds 13 extra rooms and 4 treehouses in the forest.

Amenities across the Domaine are extensive and purpose-built for weddings. The 500 m² orangery features a full sound system, 60 spotlights, 16 projectors, a catering space, and on-site furniture for 195 guests. The Great Hall offers a 5m x 3.75m screen, chandeliers, and Bose sound system.

The outbuildings, once vaulted cellars, provide a covered cocktail space with a large terrace. The estate also includes two swimming pools, a wellness spa with sauna and jacuzzi, expansive terraces, and multiple dining rooms. The 9-hectare landscaped parkland is ideal for photographs, ceremonies, and open-air gatherings.

Getting there

From Paris: The Domaine de l’Abbaye de Maizières is approximately 3 hours 30 minutes by car via the A6 motorway. By train, take the TGV to Beaune (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes), followed by a 20-minute drive from the station to the estate.

From London: Travel via Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord, transfer to Gare de Lyon, and take the TGV to Beaune. The estate is a 20-minute drive from Beaune station. Alternatively, fly into Geneva or Lyon and drive 2 hours or 1 hour 45 minutes respectively.

Additional offerings beyond weddings

In addition to weddings, Domaine de l’Abbaye de Maizières hosts corporate seminars, holiday retreats, and educational workshops. The 500 m² orangery and multiple modular reception rooms accommodate conferences, gala dinners, and team-building events for up to 400 guests. Activities include forest bathing, archery, vineyard walks, and wellness treatments at the spa.

The estate also operates a biodynamic farm and offers culinary experiences using organic produce grown on-site. With exhibition spaces, breakout lounges, and full AV setups, it is equally suited for strategy meetings or creative retreats. Guests can explore the 650-hectare forest, Maizières pond, or engage in eco-friendly nature-based activities.
