The Venue History

19th century · 19th-century chateau

Built in 1840 as the residence of Thomas Robert Bugeaud, Marquis de la Piconnerie, Duke of Isly and Marshall of France. He was a military leader and statesman serving under Napoleon Bonaparte, King Louis Philippe and Napoleon III, rising from the lowest military rank to Marshall of France. He became a member of parliament and Governor General of Algeria. As a revered national hero, he is buried in the Dome des Invalides near Napoleon Bonaparte.
