The Venue History
16th and 19th centuries
Domaine d'Essendiéras lies in the Périgord Vert countryside of the Dordogne, a 360-hectare estate that has grown around two castles. The older of the two dates from the 16th century, the second from the 19th, and together they give the domaine its distinctive double silhouette above the valley. The estate has passed through notable hands over the centuries, including academician and biographer André Maurois and industrialist Sylvain Floirat, both of whom spent time here. Today the grounds carry that layered history into English and Celtic gardens, ponds, and wooded paths that open onto views across the surrounding valleys.
