Chateau Lagorce is a historic 15th-century estate located in Haux, within the Premier Cote hills near Bordeaux, France. Originally a fortified castle, it has evolved into one of the region’s most significant heritage properties. With a recorded history that includes feudal battles, noble family disputes, and renowned vineyard cultivation, its restoration by the Holmes family since 2004 has returned it to grandeur.
This expansive chateau offers exclusive-use weddings set against the backdrop of landscaped terraces, a tranquil private lake, and ancient woodland. Ceremonies can take place lakeside at the stone rotunda, in a candlelit medieval chapel, or within one of several reception spaces including a Louis XIV panelled dining room. With over 400 weddings hosted, Chateau Lagorce accommodates events of all sizes and styles, offering customisable options for dining, décor, entertainment, and more. Just 40 minutes from Bordeaux, the venue provides a serene and private setting for multi-day celebrations in the heart of wine country.
Accommodation
Chateau Lagorce offers 22 air-conditioned, en-suite bedrooms accommodating up to 50 guests. Each room is individually styled with four-poster beds, antique furnishings, and luxurious fabrics, while retaining historical features such as beamed ceilings and original tiles. Views stretch across the estate’s terraces, lake, and vineyards.
The chateau offers a bridal suite option with a private walled terrace and hot tub, though any room can be chosen by the couple. One suite is located on the ground floor for step-free access. Children and infants are welcome, and travel cots can be provided upon request. Additional accommodation can be arranged at nearby gîtes.
