The Venue History

12th century

The Château de Malliac's history stretches back more than eight centuries, established in the 12th century on the territory of a Roman notable in the heart of Gascony. Over the following four centuries, the founder and his descendants were crusaders and consuls, participating in the construction of the bastide village (the oldest in Gascony). In the 16th century, one of their descendants is said to have initiated those around him into the rites of Armagnac, the oldest eau de vie in France. At the beginning of the 20th century, the family of the current owners acquired the estate and developed their own Armagnac brand.
