The Venue History
18th century · Perigord stone château
The Chateau was constructed by the aristocratic Laulanie family in the 18th century. Mathieu Laulanie, known as the 'Maitre des Forges,' was recorded in 1767 as residing in his Chateau in Sainte Croix while overseeing two forges that produced high-strength cannons for the King. He also managed three grain mills and an oil mill along the River Couze. The chateau was uninhabited for 28 years before current owners Gavin and Tina Weaver purchased and restored it to its former glory within 18 months.
