Chateau Marcellus
About This Venue
Neoclassical grandeur surveying 35 hectares of Garonne Valley vineyards
The Venue History
18th century · Neoclassical
Built during the 18th century, Chateau de Marcellus was designed in the neoclassical style with symmetrical facades, tall arched windows, and columned entrances typical of the Enlightenment period. Beyond a country residence for the nobility, the estate served as a gathering place for philosophers and artists, with salons hosting intellectual debate over Bordeaux wine. The interiors retain their original character: tall double doors, worn-smooth stone staircases, wood-panelled library with fireplace, and gilded mouldings throughout.
