Tables Named for Paris Landmarks and a Saxophonist at Château d'Aveny
A casino night opened Mariah and Oliver's celebrations. At the spring wedding an hour from Paris there were fireworks, and Mariah took over the DJ…
The celebrations began the evening before the wedding, with a casino night. Kiss Me in Paris, Mariah and Oliver's planner, organised the welcome dinner with professional casino tables, games and prizes, a way for everyone to get together beforehand.
The couple are American and had their engagement photographs taken in Paris, and they came back to France to marry in a château. They chose Château d'Aveny, an 18th-century estate an hour from Paris and one of the wedding venues in Normandy we feature in our Normandy guide. On a visit before they began planning with Kiss Me in Paris, they had fallen for it, and in spring 92 of their family and friends gathered there.

In the château gardens, with the building behind them, Mariah and Oliver exchanged their vows, and a live string quartet played for the ceremony. Amelevent Paris created the flowers, mainly roses, which carried on through the reception.

Mariah's bridesmaids wore soft champagne-coloured dresses that complemented the white flowers, and her own dress had a long train. Oliver wore a white dinner jacket with black trousers and a bow tie.

The reception was outside in the spring sunshine, at tables each named after a famous Paris landmark. Floral arrangements and candles dressed them, the candles in gold holders to match the gold chairs.
During the evening there were fireworks, and after dinner a saxophonist joined the DJ, helping bring everyone onto the dance floor. Because Mariah loves mixing music and knows her way around DJ equipment, she took over the decks herself during the party.
