Butter Yellow and a Serpentine Table at Château de Prunay
A late-spring styled shoot at Château de Prunay near Paris: a serpentine table, white calla lilies, two Maison Zaied gowns and cocktails by La Pirogue…

A serpentine table laid with butter-yellow napkins and white calla lilies stood at the heart of this styled shoot at Château de Prunay, a 15th-century château wedding venue about 15 minutes from Paris. Planner Pauline Boyer, photographer Franz Ladouce and Studio Fauvve, who filmed it, worked on a hot, sunny day in late spring.
The art direction took its name from "grâce beurrée", or buttered grace: butter yellow with wood tones, carried through the napkins, the flowers and the stationery. Adeline and Quentin are the couple pictured.
Getting Ready

Ceremony

The secular ceremony was staged at the far end of the château garden, among greenery and old stone, with Adeline and Quentin standing beneath a stone arch that the planner describes as picturesque.
Bridal Portraits

Adeline's first look was the Misouri gown by Maison Zaied, a strapless dress in lace and draped fabric. It had a long train and sleeves made entirely of lace, and her long veil was edged in fine lace along its full length. Euprepeia and Madison Chatelin did hair and make-up: a mid-height chignon, light make-up with stronger eyes and a glossy peach lip.
Her second look was a shorter strapless lace dress, also by Maison Zaied, sheer at the bodice and repeating some details of the first gown. With it she wore a structured ponytail, smokier eyes and a natural lip. Her bouquet gathered white calla lilies into a round, structured shape like a small bag, and her jewellery and accessories came from Maison Salvat and Maison Artaner Paris. Quentin wore a Faubourg Saint Sulpice suit in chestnut brown with warm undertones, a camel tie and a watch.

Cocktail Hour

La Pirogue Events ran the cocktail bar from an old-style wooden bar, with its own cocktails created for the occasion. The Mandarin Twist mixed mandarin, Cointreau, Amaretto and pineapple juice, and the Velvet Espresso combined vodka, Kahlúa, Bénédictine, espresso and vanilla syrup. Alongside them, the alcohol-free Bloom Bergamote paired JNPR alcohol-free gin with bergamot syrup, sparkling water and French Tonic.
Reception

The serpentine table was paired with wooden garden chairs and dressed in lace tablecloths and draped fabric. It was set with cream plates with brown floral patterns, crystal stemmed glasses, silver cutlery, silver candlesticks and butter-yellow napkins. Flower arrangements alternated with bud vases holding long stems of white calla lilies, and on one side a cascade of flowers ran down to the grass.
A few steps from the bar, Fine-Bouche laid out a buffet with a view over the château gardens, set with yellow accents and silverware. It served fish carpaccio, cubes of feta and melon, green tomatoes in olive oil, a chiffonade of ham and a fresh salad. Parmesan bites opened the richer part of the menu, followed by rhubarb pain perdu and madeleines.
Adeline and Quentin took their places at the table among the flowers and candles, in the light at the end of the day, and Une Idée Djenny made the cake.
Design and Details

Maria Daniela Florescu's flowers used butter yellow and amber with white and ecru: bright yellow roses, white daisies, cream and pale yellow carnations and large white hydrangeas, with small touches of green foliage. Agence Pauélia's stationery carried the palette on in butter yellow, brown and lace, pairing handwritten script with contemporary typefaces.
In the park, a backdrop of muslin and fine lace echoed the materials on the table, with a few floral arrangements and an antique armchair in mustard yellow and wood.

Venue

Château de Prunay is a 15th-century château on a hillside in Louveciennes, in the Yvelines, about 15 minutes by car from Paris and 10 minutes from Versailles. A long tree-lined drive leads up to it through a seven-hectare park with French gardens, a fountain and woodland.
Inside, a conservatory holds a wooden piano, and the reception room has many windows opening onto the park, ecru and pale blue tones, large mirrors, mouldings and a chandelier. A stone balcony leads from the room straight into the park. The château is hired exclusively and has five reception spaces, the largest a 107-square-metre reception room seating 96. The park takes ceremonies and cocktails for up to 300 guests. There is no accommodation on site. It is among the château wedding venues near Paris we feature, and our guide to wedding venues near Versailles covers the surrounding area.
