Four centuries in one family, at the gates of Carcassonne
Château de Pennautier has stayed in the same family for around 400 years, three kilometres from Carcassonne in the heart of the Languedoc Roussillon vineyards. Known locally as the 'Petit Versailles du Languedoc', the estate holds an extensive family archive of documents, paintings, and travel diaries, published in a book marking its 400th anniversary. The château's period rooms keep their original mouldings, fireplaces, and decoration throughout.
Couples can celebrate across the park and gardens, the château's reception salons, or a marquee set up on the grounds, with an on-site restaurant available for the wedding meal. Twenty-four renovated rooms and eight cottages sleep up to 55 guests, giving the wedding party a place to stay within the same wine estate as the celebration.

The Venue History
Château de Pennautier has been in continuous family ownership for approximately 400 years. It is described as one of the most prestigious wine estates in the South of France, known as the 'Petit Versailles du Languedoc'. The château holds a remarkable collection of archives, documents, paintings, travel diaries, and objects that bear witness to the history of the Languedoc region and France. A book, 'Château de Pennautier – 400 ans en Languedoc', was produced to mark the 400th anniversary of the estate.
