About This Venue
A 500-hectare Charente estate, hired on an exclusive-use basis for 3-day weddings.
Château de la Faye is a 13th-century estate in southern Charente, in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, on the borders of the Dordogne and the Gironde. The property covers 500 hectares of forest, ponds and open country, crossed by 20 km of trails and set around an 8-hectare lake.
It is hired on an exclusive-use basis for 3-day weddings. Up to 95 guests are seated in the 130 m² reception hall, and 27 stay on site across 11 bedrooms. The bedrooms are split between the château's guest rooms and a separate cottage. A chapel, a swimming pool, a sauna and a second reception room for poor weather sit within the grounds. Restoration has been under way since 2023.
The Venue History
13th century
The owners date the origins of Château de la Faye to the 13th century, when the property was the seat of a seigneury. Its architecture changed across the centuries as stonework was reshaped and styles moved on. In the early 18th century the feudal castle gave way to the present main house, built in a more residential spirit. After several owners, and centuries shaped by the families who lived there, the château fell into a long decline. It was saved from ruin in 1990, and a further restoration began in 2023, balancing respect for heritage with contemporary comfort, and continues today.
