Provençal Ceramics and Yellow Satin at Château des Barrenques
Amanda and Conor's late spring wedding at Château des Barrenques brought 50 guests together for three days, with yellow satin and an open-fire dinner.

Amanda and Conor chose three days in Provence over a large, formal wedding, with 50 of their closest family and friends gathered around long shared meals. They married in late spring at Château des Barrenques. Their planner, Manon Brichet of Lavande & Porto, set out to give each stage of the weekend its own setting on the estate.
The weekend opened in the courtyard, with lounge seating beneath centuries-old trees around the historic fountain. The ceremony followed in the gardens and the reception in front of the magnanerie. A thread of colour ran through the celebration, and it began with a collection of Provençal ceramic plates.
Getting Ready

Ceremony

Rather than an elaborate floral backdrop, the flowers in the gardens came as touches of vibrant colour, framed by mature trees. The aisle was aligned with the château's blue door, and Amanda and Conor exchanged vows with the façade itself as their backdrop.
Bridal Party

The bridesmaids wore vibrant yellow satin that echoed the flowers, and Amanda's sculptural cascading bouquet paired yellow with soft whites. In contrast, the groom and his groomsmen wore black tuxedos.

Reception

For the reception, long banquet tables were laid in front of the magnanerie, the château's former silkworm farm, around a central fountain and beneath festoon lights. On sage-green linen, the Provençal ceramic plates brought their colour to the tables, and as evening fell, hundreds of candles lit the reception.
Many guests were discovering French gastronomy for the first time, through locally sourced food, live cooking and regional wines. On the wedding night, dinner was cooked over an open fire.
Design and Details

The plates decided the flowers. Their colours led to two compositions for the tables. One was blue and yellow, echoing the château's blue door and the Provençal sunshine; the other paired fresh greens with soft seasonal blooms. The menus were printed in the same colours, and beyond the tables, flowers were placed around the château's fountains and inside them.
Venue

Château des Barrenques is a 15th-century castle in Lamotte-du-Rhône, in the Vaucluse, and one of the château wedding venues in Provence we feature. The castle and its grand staircase are a listed historic monument, as is the magnanerie, and the estate appears in our guide to Provence wedding venues.
With 14 bedrooms sleeping 42 and shuttles arranged for the rest, most of Amanda and Conor's family and friends spent the whole weekend together on the estate.
