Asian Wedding Traditions at Hôtel La Coquillade

Riko is from Japan and Jun lives in France and this international duo wanted to Elope to a beautiful Provencal location before headed to Japan to get married with all of their friends and family surrounding them. Let’s hear from Jeremie, the photographer and shoot organizer for all the details of this elopement shoot in Hôtel La Coquilladel, just next to Gordes.

The craziest dream this couple had, was to enjoy a romantic getaway in France and especially in Provence. They heard about it, they saw pictures, but more than anything, they wanted to be there for themselves. The idea of a pre-wedding in France came in their mind during a dinner with their friends. Before they knew it, they arrived to this adventure to discover the French style. They visited all over Provence to see it’s lavender fields, beautiful stone villages, monuments, drink good wine and champagne.

They stayed at a 5-star hotel in Luberon called the Coquillade Village. It is much more than just a simple hotel, it’s a real village gem with stone buildings in a breathtaking setting! The venue also offers spa services, a gourmet restaurant, bistro, swimming pools, cycling paths, and a vineyard. It was really quite an idyllic stay at this venue!

Since they would be marrying overseas soon, they chose to have a secular ceremony. This was a key moment of their stay where they celebrated their love mixing authenticity and a carefree spirit.

They shared with us their love story and the customs of their country. Riko and Jun chose two rituals, the tea ceremony which symbolizes pure and sincere love.

During this day, our two lovers could discover a wine cellar called Aureto and have a wine tasting of the Domaine de la Coquillade. The wine ceremony during which they sealed a bottle in a wooden box that they will be able to open for their tenth anniversary.

When they surely would be remembering their love and the magical moments spent in Provence. It is a time capsule that will be enhanced with the years. Finally, Riko and Jun had the great pleasure to take part in a couple shoot in a lavender field. They told us that it was one of the greatest moments of their lives. What a Provence filled weekend for this international couple! We wish you both the very best at your wedding in Japan!
