Lisa and David could have married at home in Melbourne. Instead, two Australians who travel often and keep returning to Europe brought 50 of their closest people to the South of France. They married at a destination wedding venue near Castres with a pool, Domaine le Castelet, on 16 September 2025. It was an intimate destination wedding, built around the guests who had crossed the world for it.
The couple split the celebration into two contrasting events. The welcome dinner the evening before was the playful one: colourful pastel florals, guests dressed in white, and Lisa and David themselves in a pop of colour. The wedding day flipped the idea, holding to a classic look in white. Friends and family had come from as far as Australia and London, and the brief throughout was to look after them.
White defined the wedding day. The florals were full and entirely white, set against blue vintage plates on the tables, the one deliberate contrast in an otherwise spare scheme. Lisa shaped the look with her wedding designer and trusted the florist, Boho Broc, to lead the flowers. For the photography she briefed Serenity Photography to a Vogue-inspired register. The couple sum the result up, across both nights, as "a combination of effortless chic and timeless romance."
Getting Ready

The fashion did real work. Lisa wore two gowns. For the ceremony she chose Anna by Serene by Madi Lane, a mikado silk A-line with a softly dropped waist, pleating and a long train. For the evening she swapped it for Anaïs by Galia Lahav, a fitted corset gown with a sheer lace back, a sharper line for the party.
Her hair and makeup followed a classic glam look, and the bridesmaids matched it with curls and the same finish. They wore one dress style in four pastel shades, so the party read as a set without anyone vanishing into a uniform. David and the groomsmen were in tuxedos, holding a clean formal line for the men.
Ceremony

The ceremony was held outdoors, in the gardens of the estate, at 3:30pm, with a violinist playing as Lisa and David married. The weather did its part, 25°C and sunny. What the couple single out is who was there: friends and family who had flown in from Australia and London to stand in one garden for the afternoon.
For a wedding that was as much a reunion as a ceremony, that was the part that counted. The couple credit the venue with going out of its way to accommodate everyone, which for a celebration run without a separate planner mattered more than usual.

Bridal Party

The wedding party were styled as a set. The bridesmaids' four pastel shades, against the white florals and the garden, gave the group photographs their colour, while David and the groomsmen in tuxedos kept the men's side formal. These were also the people the couple had asked to travel furthest and to share the welcome dinner the night before, so the group reads as close rather than assembled.
Cocktail Hour

Cocktail hour leaned into the food. Guests were served canapés alongside fresh shucked oysters and grilled scallops, while a mixologist from South Mixology made drinks to order. It was the social stretch between the ceremony and a long dinner. For a group that had travelled a long way, it was an easy hour to be together before the evening turned formal.
Reception

Dinner was where the couple spent their attention. Across four courses, the one the guests still talk about was a live barbecue serving half lobster with mango salsa, with entrecôte and duck breast among the mains.
The tables carried the day's signature, full white florals against blue vintage plates sourced through Margotte Vintage. A saxophonist played through the reception, picking up the thread from the violinist who had opened the ceremony, so live music stretched across the whole day. The couple describe the venue itself as part of the experience, with many of the guests marking a destination wedding as well as a wedding.
Design and Details

The design followed one idea across two nights. For the wedding day the flowers were kept entirely white, full and abundant rather than sparse, which gave the tables presence without adding colour. Against them sat blue vintage plates, the single contrast in the scheme and the detail the couple come back to.
The welcome dinner the night before had gone the other way, with colourful pastel florals set against guests in white. Boho Broc led the flowers for both, working to a brief Lisa had set with her designer. As the couple put it, they had trusted Boho Broc to take the lead, "and they brought our vision to life beautifully."

Venue

Domaine le Castelet sits in the Occitanie countryside near Castres, the kind of rustic, scenic estate that suits an outdoor wedding. The September weather let the couple keep the day outside, with the gardens holding the ceremony. Set among the wedding venues in Occitanie, it gave them room to run a multi-day celebration without sending guests off-site.
The large pool area was a particular draw and one of the features the guests remember. The couple describe the setting as "a chic, classic atmosphere with a charming rustic feel." It had its own coordination on hand and no separate planner. That suited a couple hosting a destination wedding in the South of France for guests travelling in from abroad.
