About This Venue

Say "I do" beneath ivy-covered towers in a hidden château in the heart of France

Hidden in the green heart of Auvergne, Château de Sédaiges is the kind of place couples rarely find. Its ivy-covered towers rise above six hectares of private wooded parkland, meadows and ponds, preserved by the same family for over 800 years.

Your celebration unfolds in spaces full of charm and character: a great hall featuring a giant carved wooden staircase and listed 17th century tapestries, bright 18th-century-style salons, and a bright 180 m² reception room seating 144 guests at the château's own tables, or up to 160 with hired tables and chairs, with views of the château to dine and dance late into the night. Exchange vows beneath centuries-old trees, watch the towers glow once night falls, and enjoy a next-day brunch on the grounds or by the private pool.

Up to 42 guests can stay on site. Six main bedrooms, including suites, are reserved for close friends and family in the château, with attic rooms and an independent cottage for larger groups. A wedding planner is expected for couples travelling from abroad. A member of the château team is discreetly on hand throughout your reception to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Remote yet easy to reach, Sédaiges is just 15 km from Aurillac, with two daily flights from Paris.

It is a fairytale setting with a genuine family welcome.

The Venue History

12th to 19th centuries · Troubadour neogothic style

Monument Historique

A medieval stronghold in the 12th century, Sédaiges has belonged to the same family for over 800 years. Damaged during the Hundred Years' War, it was restored in the 15th century and embellished and enlarged in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Sédaiges, Caissac, Béral, and Varax families succeeded one another at Sédaiges, passing the château down through marriage or inheritance. The approximately 18 generations who lived there amassed a collection that constitutes a veritable repository of daily life from centuries past. These collections, which have never been dispersed, are on display in the drawing rooms, dining room, kitchens, linen room, pantry, and more, making a visit a true journey through time.

Notable Features

  • • The Great Hall Features A Collection Of Five Flemish Tapestries Which Depict The Lives Of Country Dwellers In The 17th Century.
  • • The Same Great Hall Features A Monumental Carved Wooden Staircase And A Total Of 12 Entry Points, Making It The Beating Heart Of The Château

Hotel Coutettaz

Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes · Haute-Savoie

Hotel Coutettaz is a boutique hotel in Morzine, in Haute-Savoie in the French Alps, set in a manor house built in 1771. The hotel is hired on an exclusive-use basis for a wedding weekend. Ceremonies take place in the garden, which takes up to 150 guests and looks towards the mountains. Dinner is served in the dining room, which seats 90, or in a stretch tent in the garden, which seats 150 and can be added with heating, lighting and flooring. If it rains, the ceremony moves into the tent, or into the dining room for a smaller group. The hotel also hosts elopements and vow renewals. Catering is in-house only: the hotel's chef cooks a seasonal menu from local produce, and caters for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free diets. A tasting meal is included. Drinks come from the hotel, and couples cannot bring their own wine. Wedding coordination is also in-house, the team keeps a list of recommended suppliers, and staff speak French and English. The hotel has 11 bedrooms sleeping 30 guests. The bridal suite, Atelier, is a former workshop with exposed beams, an open-plan bathroom and a roll-top bath. A typical weekend starts with a Friday welcome dinner, followed by the ceremony and reception on Saturday and a brunch or barbecue on Sunday. Weddings take place in summer and winter. Geneva Airport is about 90 minutes away, and a shuttle service is available.
