About This Venue
The best of the French art de vivre
Chateau de Bourron is a privately-owned 16th-century Renaissance chateau set within 40 hectares of walled grounds adjoining Fontainebleau forest, an hour south of Paris. Classified as a Historic Monument since 1971, the estate offers full exclusivity for weddings of up to 140 guests across eight named indoor and outdoor spaces, with 15 bedrooms sleeping 37 on-site. Owned by the descendants of the Montesquiou-Fezensac family, the chateau remains a working family home with formal French gardens, moats fed by natural spring, and a path of linden trees.
Owned by Mr de Cordon and Mrs de Cordon
The Venue History
16th century (foundations dating to 14th century) · Brick and stone Renaissance style (brique et pierre)
Built at the end of the 16th century on the site of an old feudal fortress with foundations dating to the 14th century, as demonstrated by its still-visible moats. The chateau is a typical residence of the Ile-de-France region, also called the 'Petit Fontainebleau'. The wrought iron horseshoe staircase on either side of the listed building provides access to the reception rooms. The name Bourron originates from a spring on the grounds, meaning 'bubbling spring'. The place has been registered on the supplementary inventory since 1926 and classified since 1971 as Historic Monument.
