The Venue History
Early 17th century · Bastide (traditional Provencal country house)
The residence was given to Henry IV in 1608 as a wedding present. Louis XV graciously granted the property to the city of Antibes at the end of his reign. In 1924, the famous fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin purchased the estate and offered it to her daughter Marguerite (known as Marie-Blanche Lanvin) and her son-in-law Count de Polignac, a member of the Princely Family of Monaco. In 1971, Mick Jagger from the Rolling Stones spent a summer at the Bastide du Roy with Bianca following their marriage, where they completed their album 'Exile on Main Street'. The sculptor César lived here for four years alongside the current owner the Gismondi family, surrounded by friends including artists Arman, Ben, Folon, Farhi, Castelli, Lalanne, and notable figures such as Nora Amsellem and Teresa Berganza.
