Roses, Anthurium and a Two-Part Dress at Château de Pradines

Carolina's main bridal gown was designed to change between the ceremony and evening.

The fuller version was made for the ceremony. Removable elements could then be taken away to leave a narrower sheath for later in the day.

Both versions came from Showroom iGilles in Aix-en-Provence.

Carolina's preparations were set in the château's panelled rooms.

Carolina's bridal portraits paired the short floral dress with a cathedral-length veil.

A dark blue vintage convertible was brought beneath the plane trees for these portraits, with Carolina beside the car and the long veil extending behind her across the gravel.

Closer portraits framed her face through the tulle of the veil.

The frescoed loggia provided one of the main settings, its arched panels painted in strong blues, reds and ochres. Behind Hans, one panel shows a harpist, a centaur and baskets of fruit.

Carolina and Hans also used the château's stone staircase and gardens, including steps lined with magenta, coral and orange flowers.

Inside, they stood beneath the painted vaulted ceiling of one of the salons. Other portraits moved onto the terrace and around the exterior of the house, with its pale walls and stone architecture.

Dinner was set outside in front of Château de Pradines beneath the plane trees that shade the forecourt.

One long table was positioned beside the balustraded terrace, with the valley visible beyond it.

Roland Paix Traiteur prepared the menu. One course was poured at the table, and the plates were finished with edible flowers.

Low floral arrangements ran along the table between tall white taper candles.

Loca Thème supplied the rentals and table linen, while Terre d'Ocre provided the chairs.

For dessert, a white cake topped with candles stood on a draped, stepped plinth in front of a classical stone statue, between the columns of the loggia. Flowers were arranged on the plinth and banked around its base, with none on the cake itself.

A champagne tower was set up on a separate table by the château's French doors, where Hans poured champagne into the stacked coupes with Carolina beside him.

Floral French Riviera worked roses, anthurium, allium and hydrangea into arrangements for the table, the bouquet and the cake.

Magenta, coral, orange and deep purple ran from the dinner table to Carolina's bouquet and the cake setting.

In the bouquet, coral garden roses sat against broad magenta anthurium, with allium and trailing amaranthus.

Beside the flowers, the château's own colour showed in the painted frescoes of the loggia, the decorated vaulted ceiling of one salon and the blue-grey shutters across the exterior.

The same flowers were banked around the cake plinth and the champagne table.

Château de Pradines is a listed historic monument in Grambois, in the Luberon, and hosts weddings in Provence from June to September.

It is a chateau wedding venue in Provence with on-site accommodation, sleeping 16 guests, so a wedding weekend can run from a welcome dinner through the wedding day to brunch.

There are several possible outdoor ceremony locations within the grounds. Ceremonies can be held in the gardens or rose garden, or beside the old Provençal fountain that the main staircase wraps around, beneath hundred-year-old trees.

The forecourt beneath the plane trees can accommodate a long outdoor dinner. For this editorial, the table was positioned beside the château's balustraded terrace overlooking the valley.

The property has an open loggia lined with frescoes, one signed by Louis-Adolphe Riou in 1927, as well as a salon with a painted vaulted ceiling and other period rooms.

Outside, pale rendered walls, stone terraces and established gardens surround the house, and a long avenue of plane trees forms the main approach.
