Roses, Anthurium and a Two-Part Dress at Château de Pradines

Carolina's main bridal gown was designed to change between the ceremony and evening.

The fuller version was made for the ceremony. Removable elements could then be taken away to leave a narrower sheath for later in the day.

Both versions came from Showroom iGilles in Aix-en-Provence.

A third bridal look was a short blush dress with a floral bodice, worn with a cathedral-length veil that extended along the gravel behind Carolina.

The bridal preparations took place in the château's panelled rooms.

Carolina wore the white gown for portraits on the terrace and around the gardens of Château de Pradines.

The fuller version showed the complete ceremony silhouette, while removing parts of the gown created the narrower version for later in the day.

Her third look paired a short blush dress and floral bodice with a cathedral-length veil.

A dark blue vintage convertible was brought beneath the plane trees for the later portraits. Carolina wore the blush dress beside the car, with the long veil extending behind her across the gravel.

The terrace, balustrade, gardens and château exterior provided the settings for the three bridal looks.

The frescoed loggia, an open gallery along one side of Château de Pradines, provided one of the main settings, with a full-length painting of bathers running along the wall in pale blue and peach.

Carolina and Hans also used the château's stone staircase and gardens, including steps lined with magenta, coral and orange flowers.

Other portraits moved onto the terrace and around the exterior of the house, with its pale walls, blue-grey shutters and stone architecture.

Dinner was set outside in front of Château de Pradines beneath the plane trees that shade the forecourt.

One long table was positioned beside the balustraded terrace, with the valley visible beyond it.

Roland Paix Traiteur prepared the menu. A chilled melon soup was poured at the table over strawberry and cream. Sea bass was served on green pea purée and finished with edible violas.

Low floral arrangements ran along the table, leaving the valley visible beyond the balustrade. Tall white taper candles were positioned between the flowers.

Loca Thème supplied the glassware and china, while Terre d'Ocre provided the chairs.

For dessert, a white cake topped with candles stood on a draped, stepped plinth in front of a classical stone statue, between the columns of the loggia. Flowers were arranged on the plinth and banked around its base, leaving the cake itself plain.

A champagne tower was set up on a separate table by the château's French doors, where Hans poured champagne into the stacked coupes with Carolina beside him.

The magenta, coral and orange flowers used at dinner continued around the cake and the champagne table.

Floral French Riviera combined roses with magenta anthurium throughout the arrangements.

The palette included magenta, coral, orange and deep purple, with the same colours appearing along the dinner table, in Carolina's bouquet and around the cake setting.

Roses provided the rounder flower shapes, while magenta anthuriums introduced broad, flatter forms.

Colour was already present in the château itself. The loggia carries a full-length fresco of bathers in pale blue and peach, a salon inside has a decorated vaulted ceiling with painted figures, and blue-grey shutters run across the exterior.

At dinner, the flowers were kept low along the table, with tall white taper candles positioned between the arrangements.

Château de Pradines is in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume in the Var, and hosts weddings in Provence from June to September.

There are several possible outdoor ceremony locations within the grounds. Ceremonies can be held in the gardens or rose garden, or beside the old Provençal fountain at the foot of the main staircase beneath hundred-year-old trees.

The forecourt beneath the plane trees can accommodate a long outdoor dinner. For this editorial, the table was positioned beside the château's balustraded terrace overlooking the valley.

The château has an open frescoed loggia, a salon with a painted vaulted ceiling and other period rooms that can be used for preparations and portraits.

Outside, the property has blue-grey shutters, pale rendered walls, stone terraces and established gardens. A long avenue of plane trees forms the main approach to the château.
