Planner Margot Solange Jacky built this late-spring editorial at Abbaye de la Bussière around two things: the abbey itself and a Hayley Paige gown. Each part of the shoot answers to one or the other. The stationery takes its pattern from the abbey's stained glass, and the cake was designed to match the dress.
The abbey sits in the heart of Burgundy and carries centuries of history behind it. The styling was worked in patterns with a small touch of burgundy, and the planner describes the brief as refined and authentic. It sits among the wedding venues in Burgundy where the building does much of the work.
Late spring set the conditions. The planner reports nature in blossom, and weather that allowed the ceremony and the cocktail hour to be held outdoors.
Heritage Story photographed it in a fine art approach, classic in composition and modern in its film style, matched to what the planner calls the "timeless romance" of the venue.
Ceremony
The ceremony was staged outdoors, directly in front of the abbey, with the building as the backdrop. Paper umbrellas were handed out for the ceremony.
Bridal Portraits
The dress led the styling. The bride wore a Hayley Paige gown, one of the two things the editorial was built around, the other being the abbey. Hair was worn wavy and the make-up full glam, credited to Madame Montaigne and Pauline Mouisson Wedding. The jewellery enhanced the style. The groom's suit came from Blandin & Delloye.
Couple Portraits
Cocktail Hour
The cocktail hour followed outdoors on the lawn, with the paper umbrellas carried over from the ceremony. Champagne was served.
Reception
Live painting was the entertainment, which the planner records as a hit. The cake, by Cake d'Or, was designed to match the wedding dress. Catering came from Brecheteau et Rion.
Design and Details
The stationery, by Just Love Atelier, draws on the abbey's stained glass windows. Tableware and rentals came from Velvet Rendez-Vous.
Florals by Le Clos Végétal mixed green and cream, with the bouquet matched to the wider floral decoration. Lavender ran through the arrangements, intended for a romantic note.

Abbaye de la Bussière is an ancient abbey in the heart of Burgundy, and the styling was kept light to let the building show. The shoot covered an outdoor ceremony at the front of the building, a cocktail hour, and a reception with entertainment. It was built to show what the venue can hold for a destination wedding in Burgundy.
