The French Wedding Style Edit

Best Wedding Planners in the South of France

The planners international couples trust across Provence, the French Riviera and the Côte d’Azur, chosen by our editors from our partner collection.

Curated by the French Wedding Style editors Last reviewed 8 planners

The South of France is where most couples picture a destination wedding: lavender fields and stone bastides inland in Provence, and the sea, the light and the glamour along the French Riviera and the Côte d'Azur. It is also a large region with two very different characters, and the planning, suppliers and travel change depending on whether you marry in the hills above Aix or on a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean.

Every planner on this page works across the south and regularly guides couples planning from overseas. French Wedding Style is an editorial guide rather than a planning agency: we introduce you to trusted partners and link straight to their profiles, so you can compare their work and approach and enquire with the team that fits your wedding.

In short

The best wedding planners in the South of France are full-service partners who work across Provence, the French Riviera and the Côte d'Azur, speak fluent English, and know the region's bastides, wine estates and coastal villas. The planners below are part of the French Wedding Style partner collection, chosen for the strength of their work and their experience with international couples planning from abroad.

How we curate this list

We curate this list from our partner planners who actively work across Provence, the French Riviera and the Côte d'Azur. We look at the quality and consistency of their past weddings, their experience guiding international couples through French logistics and language, the venue types and sub-regions they know best, and the real weddings they have shared with us. We do not rank planners by who pays the most; membership tier affects the order in which partners appear, never whether they earn a place. The list is reviewed and refreshed as our collection grows.

Choosing your planner: our advice

Decide between Provence and the coast early

Inland Provence gives you vineyards, bastides and a slower country feel, usually with more space and a lower cost per guest. The Riviera gives you sea views, glamour and easy access through Nice, at a premium. The two ask for different venues and suppliers, so settle the setting before you shortlist.

Plan for heat and the mistral

Summer in the south is hot, and Provence has the mistral, a strong dry wind that can unsettle an exposed marquee or ceremony. Experienced local planners build in shade, water, later ceremony times and sheltered back-up spots as a matter of course. Ask how they handle both.

Treat it as a multi-day weekend

Many southern venues are exclusive-use estates that guests travel a long way to reach, so couples increasingly plan a welcome dinner, the wedding day and a recovery brunch. A planner will coordinate accommodation, transport and the full weekend rather than a single day.

Match the service level to your distance

Planners offer full planning, partial planning and day-of coordination. Couples planning from another country usually want full planning so that site visits, tastings and supplier meetings are handled locally. If you can travel often, partial planning or coordination may be enough.

Lean on local supplier relationships

The south's best caterers, florists and photographers book early and often work through planners they trust. A established southern planner gives you access to those suppliers, fluent English throughout, and someone to read and negotiate French contracts on your behalf.

Editor's tip

If your heart is set on lavender, be precise about dates: the bloom is usually at its best from late June into July and varies by altitude and year. Tell your planner it matters and they will steer your venue and timing accordingly, rather than promising a field that may already be cut.

The words planners use

Bastide
A traditional Provençal country house or manor, often set among vineyards or olive groves and hired as an exclusive-use wedding venue.
Domaine
An estate, frequently a working wine estate, offering grounds, accommodation and a cellar or vineyard backdrop for the celebration.
Mistral
A strong, cold, dry wind that funnels down the Rhône valley through Provence, most common in winter and spring and worth planning around for outdoor ceremonies.
Côte d'Azur
The Mediterranean coastline of south-east France, also known as the French Riviera, running roughly from Cassis past Nice toward the Italian border.
Vin d'honneur
The drinks reception that follows a French ceremony, where a wider circle of guests is often invited before the seated dinner for the closest family and friends.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need a wedding planner for a South of France wedding?
For couples planning from abroad it is close to essential. The south's best venues are often exclusive-use estates that need their own suppliers, transport and weekend logistics, and a local planner manages the language, the French contracts and the site visits you cannot easily make yourself. Couples marrying close to home may only need day-of coordination.
How much does a wedding planner in the South of France cost?
Planners charge either a percentage of your overall wedding budget or a fixed fee that rises with the scope of the work, so full planning costs more than partial planning or coordination. The fee is best judged against the suppliers, savings and weekend logistics a planner takes off your hands. Ask each planner on this page for a quote against your budget and guest count.
Provence or the French Riviera: which suits our wedding?
Provence suits couples who want countryside, vineyards and bastides with space for a relaxed multi-day weekend, usually at a gentler cost per guest. The Riviera and the Côte d'Azur suit couples who want the sea, the light and the glamour, with the easiest guest access through Nice. Several planners here work fluently in both.
When is the best time to get married in the South of France?
May, June and September give warm, reliable weather without the peak of the summer heat, and they book up first. July and August are hot and busy; lavender is usually at its best in late June and July. Spring and early autumn are the most comfortable for an outdoor celebration.
Do wedding planners in the South of France speak English?
The planners on this page work regularly with international couples and communicate fluently in English, and many work in several languages. That fluency is a core reason to hire locally, because it extends to reading and negotiating the French supplier contracts behind your wedding.
How do guests get to the South of France?
Nice Côte d'Azur airport serves the Riviera with wide international connections, while Marseille airport and the TGV stations at Avignon and Aix-en-Provence serve inland Provence. A planner will factor guest arrival points into the venue choice and arrange transfers, which matters for estates that sit well outside the nearest town.
