Style
Alia creates an immersive, unhurried experience on the wedding day, taking the time to know each couple before the celebration so that the camera feels like a trusted friend rather than an observer. Floral art, jewels, textures and the small details of a couple's vision are treated with the same care as the central emotional moments. Her influences run from photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Lee Miller to filmmakers Terrence Malick and Agnès Varda, giving the work a contemplative, lyrical sensibility.
Experience
Alia's path into photography began in Mauritius at her grandfather's home, where she discovered his analog cameras and English photography manuals alongside her father's cameras and 1980s engagement images of her parents. A violinist since the age of 8 and passionate about art, music, poetry and cinema, she brings the same artistic discipline to weddings, elopements, engagement and portrait sessions, lifestyle work and private events. She accepts a limited number of weddings each year to guarantee full creative attention and often collaborates with film director Pierre-Yves Bariquault for couples who want a matching cinematic film.
