Ringing in the New Year with a Fairytale Wedding at Chateau de Saint-Martory
Best friends Verity and Russell along with their families enjoyed a New Year’s Eve Wedding at Chateau de Saint-Martory. They came to France from Jersey to celebrate their love with lots of sparkle, lights, confetti and with plenty of festive spirit. The day commenced with champagne and preparations at their chateau in the foot hills of the mountains, followed by a traditional church ceremony. After tying the knot they all headed back to Chateau de Saint-Martory for a New Year’s Eve Wedding celebration to remember. Imagine bringing in the new year as newlyweds, we love this idea here at FWS, we also adore their crisp golden hour winter portraits captured perfectly by photographer Elena Joland!
We’ll now pass you over to our beautiful bride Verity who will be walking us through her big day…
On our anniversary Russ had brought a ring in the afternoon and on the way home went to the woods where we walk our dog and hid the ring under a bush (!) he then came home and we went out to walk the dog. Between the time of him hiding the ring and us walking the dog, the path to where the ring was hidden got closed due to bad weather. I had no idea what was going on but he was starting to panic! We had to take nearly a 1 hour detour to get back to the hidden ring and by this time we had missed our dinner reservations and it was dark – he found the ring and I thought he had gone mad scrambling under a bush. Then plan B was in force so he put the ring box in a road side egg stall and when I looked inside and saw the ring, I turned around to him on one knee and I said yes!
On our big day I got ready with my bridesmaids, had champagne toasts and walked to the church together!
We enjoyed a traditional catholic wedding blessing. Two of my bridesmaids sang and it was simply amazing.
We chose Chateau de Saint-Martory as our wedding venue. We fell in love with the venue as soon as we drove through the gates. The setting is just perfect in the foot hills of the mountains and in a quiet village. Just beautiful.

Our florist choice is amazing Magali from Gali M Atelier Fleuriste, she was amazing and saved the day. She created such a delicate and beautiful floral deco for our day.
Our favourite moment was our joint speech as bride and groom and looking round the room at all our friends and family.
