Red Carpet beauty on a Budget

As the photos from the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival start to come in, I love browsing through them and looking at the fashion but also to impecible beauty and often wonder about how to achieve this if you are a regular lady without beauty training.  So I contacted the lovely Carey Hawkins Makeup to find out her recommendations for how to achieve a red carpet beauty look without the red carpet price tag.

Carey Hawkins: “Everyone knows the secret behind the amazing looks of the celebrities who walk down the red carpets with a gorgeous ‘inner glow.’  Behind these fabulous hairstyles, dresses and make up creations are a team of stylists, personal trainers, professional make up artists and beauticians.  The average girl can only dream of such fantastic pampering but we are here to tell you these glamorous make up looks are available to everyone and you don’t need to break the bank to achieve them.

Red Carpet Accessories

Day 1 of Cannes Film Festival, I would be delighted to be there one day, but for this year I am searching the web to follow the activities, fashion and news.  The first day has brought out the glitz and glamour on the red carpet for the screening of Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson.

Eva Longoria wore a stunning pale-pink mermaid gown, fitted down to the knee and flared into a long feathered train.

Cannes Film Festival Wedding Ideas

Today sees the start of the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival and I am so excited for the fashion, the films and the sights of the French Riviera.  Over the course of the festival I will be sharing with you my usual range of wedding style and inspiration, including some specific posts on how to include the red carpet style into your wedding day.

The Cannes Film Festival this year have decided to pay tribute to Marilyn Monroe on their official poster. “Fifty years after her death, Marilyn is still a major figure in world cinema, an eternal icon, whose grace, mystery and power of seduction remain resolutely contemporary.

The Festival poster captures Marilyn by surprise in an intimate moment where myth meets reality – a moving tribute to the anniversary of her passing, which coincides with the Festival anniversary. She enchants us with this promising gesture: a seductively blown kiss. The Festival is a temple of glamour and Marilyn is its perfect incarnation. Their coming together symbolises the ideal of simplicity and elegance.

Real life wedding Deauville Normandy

Today’s real life wedding by AmyPunky Photography takes us to Deauville on the shores of Normandy.  Deauville is often referred to as the ‘lady of the french coast’, due to the resorts glamour, prestige and excellence. Regular visitors to Deauville apparently included Coco Chanel and the Rothschilds who commission the villa Strassburger to be built, where many celebrity parties occured during the 50s.   Located next to Le Harve, the horse racing town is just a skip over the English channel and is now even more accessible due to Cityjet now flying direct to Deauville’s own little airport.

Delphine and Grègory chose to have their real life wedding Deauville Normandy as the location for their shabby chic wedding, at the local Mairies’ office followed by a Chateau wedding reception, captured by AmyPunky Photography the photographer behind the Marie Antoinette photoshoot.

The night before…. a destination wedding

Whether you are following strict wedding traditions or making your own wedding personal with your own traditions, one custom that seems a staple in the wedding itinerary is not seeing your fiance the night before the wedding day.

The custom is from the ancient tradition of the bride not showing her face to the groom at all before the wedding day, but many couples still include this in their wedding plans to add excitement to the big day.  If this is a tradition you want to follow, how do you include it in a destination wedding and what do you do in the day and evening before the big day?

If you are planning a resort destination wedding then some packages include a second single room for the groom to stay in the night before the wedding. This is a great solution if offered, but in Paris a second hotel room can provide a rather large additional expense in the name of tradition.

Original Vintage Wedding Dresses

I love the ‘vintage’ fashion style that is around at the moment, but I also have a love and great respect for original vintage clothing from a range of decades.  I have looked at vintage inspired bridal accessories, so today I thought I would indulge myself and take a look at what original vintage wedding dresses and vintage lace wedding dresses are available to purchase.

Do remember that by nature these dresses are one of a kind, so if you are reading this blog post  shortly after posting, the dresses might not still be available to purchase. But be sure to visit the sites recommended as they will have a treasure trove of other original vintage bridal wear for you to browse through.

A real life fairy tale chateau wedding from the West of France to round off this week.  Destination wedding photographer Stephanie Methven captured Hope and Edward’s French chateau wedding at Chateau de la Couronne outside Marthon.

Stephanie recalls the details of the magical day:  “I was totally emerged in the romanticism that transpired when I saw the wedding venue  Chateau de la Couronne during my provisional venue visit to identify locations and areas in which the bride and groom would be photographed.

Shedding for Wedding: How to Stay Motivated

Today’s post is a blessing and coming at the right time in my shedding for wedding dress diet.  As I am already married, my personal shedding for wedding dress diet is focused towards getting back into my wedding dress from 4 years ago rather than fitting into my wedding dress for the first time.  Part of my problem is that this is a self determined goal and as such my motivation has started to waver in line with work commitments, personal celebrations and pouring more of my time writing and managing my wonderful blog as it gets busier.

So what is a girl to do?  Turn to Tim Mugabi from Into That Dress personal training company based in London, that’s what!  Into That Dress  specialises in helping Brides-to-be lose weight for their wedding day.   Tim created Into That Dress because he felt there was nothing out there that catered specifically for women who wanted to look their absolute best on their big day.

wedding personal trainerTim:  “I fully believe that Brides-to- be are a special group of women. They have a special motivation that if taken advantage of can enable them to look incredible as they walk down the aisle.  But if that motivation is left unchecked, it can prove destructive. This is why so many future brides succumb to dangerous crash diets and excessive exercise routines; because there was no-one out there guiding them with an alternative.

Into That Dress is that alternative. We help you to achieve long lasting weight loss with our Three Fundamentals of Weight Loss: Mindset, Diet and Exercise.  We help keep you motivated and help you to motivate yourself, make sure you eat the right things consistently and provide you with a tailored exercise plan that will transform your body.
