Getting Ready

A getting-ready moment captured indoors, showing a bride seated on the edge of a low platform bed as she fastens her shoe. She is wearing a strapless sweetheart-neckline wedding gown in blush-ivory with tiered lace and tulle layers featuring scalloped trim, and a long cathedral-length veil draped beside her. Her hair is styled in a high updo bun. She is putting on a white strappy open-toe heel. The room has neutral beige walls and large-format tile flooring, giving a modern, minimal feel. The shot is taken from a slightly elevated angle, making it a portrait-style overhead composition.
A getting-ready portrait of a bride seated indoors, wearing a white satin robe with her hair styled in a high curly bun. Her makeup is complete with defined eye liner, full lashes, and a neutral lip, and she wears a small stud earring. She is gazing to the side with a composed expression. In the background, a makeup station is visible with open eyeshadow palettes, brushes, and various beauty products on a shelf. The shot is a close-up portrait with a shallow depth of field, keeping the bride sharp and the background softly blurred.
A close-up portrait of a bride shot against a warm beige studio backdrop. She wears a strapless ivory lace and satin corset-style bodice with scalloped lace trim along the sweetheart neckline. Her hair is styled in a high curly updo, and her makeup features smoky eye shadow with defined lashes and a neutral lip. She is looking downward with a calm expression. The lighting is soft and directional, creating subtle shadow definition across her collarbone and shoulders.
A getting-ready scene captured indoors in what appears to be a hotel or villa room, showing the bride standing with her back to the camera while two women assist her. The bride is wearing a fitted lace wedding gown with geometric patterned lace detailing and a short train pooling on the tiled floor. One assistant, wearing a white midi dress, fastens the back of the gown, while the other, wearing a black satin robe with 'Maid of Honor' written in gold script lettering, helps from the other side. The shot is taken from a slightly elevated angle, showing the full length of the gown's train, and a large mirror on the left reflects part of the scene.
A getting-ready scene shot indoors, backlit by warm golden light from a large window. A hair stylist sprays hairspray over the bride's updo, creating a visible mist cloud between the two figures. The bride is seated in a white chair with her back to the camera, wearing no visible clothing on her upper back, with her dark hair styled into a curled updo. The composition is a medium portrait shot from behind, with both figures rendered largely in silhouette against the bright warm backlight, creating strong contrast between the dark foreground subjects and the glowing background.
A bride stands alone in a hotel room or suite during the getting-ready phase, wearing a strapless ivory fit-and-flare wedding gown with geometric lace and bandage-style textured paneling and a flared train. Her hair is styled in a high bun and she wears a ring, gazing to the side. The room features boldly patterned floral fabric on a headboard or curtain panel in multicolor tones, a coral-orange round ottoman, and pink-and-white striped upholstery, giving the interior a colorful, eclectic feel. The shot is a full-length portrait taken indoors in natural light from a nearby window.

Leslie's preparations unfolded in a bright coastal setting where the couple posed together overlooking the turquoise waters of Le Gosier. The morning's energy was relaxed and celebratory, with family members gathering nearby. Gilbert chose a tailored suit with a navy vest for what the couple called their French Riviera look.

Ceremony

An outdoor beach wedding ceremony setup photographed before guests arrive, with the ocean and a rocky headland visible in the background. The ceremony aisle is lined with white folding chairs and aisle markers consisting of glass vases filled with baby's breath and large tropical leaves. A wooden arch frames the altar area, decorated with palm fronds, monstera leaves, white hydrangeas, baby's breath, and a draped length of white sheer fabric. A small white wooden ceremony table stands beneath the arch. The overall decor palette is white and green with a tropical theme. Wide shot capturing the full ceremony space from the back of the aisle.
A groom stands outdoors during what appears to be a wedding ceremony, smiling broadly as he watches, likely seeing the bride approach. He is dressed in a dark navy blazer over a navy and white gingham check waistcoat, paired with a black knit tie secured with a tie bar, white dress shirt, and white trousers. He wears mirrored aviator sunglasses and a white boutonniere on his lapel, along with a statement wristwatch. Two guests are partially visible and out of focus in the foreground. The shot is a medium portrait taken from a slight angle, with a lush green garden backdrop.
An outdoor beach wedding ceremony showing the bride and groom at the altar, with the bride seen from behind reading her vows and the groom facing the camera smiling. The bride wears a backless lace gown with a long lace-trimmed veil and her hair in an updo, while the groom wears a navy suit jacket with white trousers, a patterned tie, and a white boutonniere. The ceremony arch is decorated with tropical greenery including palm fronds and baby's breath with white fabric ribbon accents. The composition is a medium portrait shot capturing both figures at the altar with lush tropical foliage in the background.
An outdoor beach wedding ceremony taking place directly on the sand with the ocean visible in the background. The bride wears a fitted white lace gown with a long veil and holds a tropical bouquet of large green leaves, while the groom wears a dark navy suit with white trousers; an officiant dressed in white stands between them holding a clipboard or book and speaking into a microphone. The ceremony arch is a bamboo or wooden frame draped with white sheer fabric and decorated with large tropical palm fronds, banana leaves, and clusters of white flowers, with matching floral arrangements of baby's breath in glass vases lining the aisle. Seated guests on white chairs, most dressed in white or light-colored attire, flank the aisle on both sides, with approximately 15-20 visible guests. The styling is tropical and relaxed with a natural green-and-white palette, and the wide-shot portrait composition captures the full ceremony setup with the coastline as a backdrop.

A tropical floral arch framed the private beach ceremony, with the ocean and rocky coastline providing the only backdrop needed. Leslie wore an elegant champagne-hued gown that set her apart from the all-white palette of her guests. Vows were exchanged to the rhythm of the sea as Smile and Shine Photography captured each moment.

Reception

Wide shot of an indoor wedding reception venue set up for a seated dinner, featuring round tables dressed in white linens and surrounded by clear ghost/chiavari chairs. The room has a distinctive dark wood ceiling with exposed beams and a large decorative ceiling installation made of overlapping petal-shaped panels in a striped black-and-white pattern. The marble or polished tile floor has a geometric pattern and serves as the dance floor in the center. Table centerpieces appear minimal with small greenery accents. The overall decor palette is white and clear with dark wood architectural details, giving a clean, tropical-colonial aesthetic. Louvered dark wood shutters line the walls, and recessed ceiling lighting illuminates the space. Potential venue feature image.
Black-and-white wide shot of a couple sharing their first dance on a polished dance floor during an indoor wedding reception. The groom wears a classic black tuxedo with bow tie, and the bride wears a fringed, heavily embellished midi-length dress with a deep V-neckline, consistent with a 1920s Art Deco or Great Gatsby-inspired styling theme. They are holding hands and smiling at each other, caught mid-movement. Behind them, a live band stage is visible with a drum kit and keyboard setup, and four stage spotlights beam dramatically downward, creating strong contrast and visible light rays across the scene. The high contrast black-and-white tones emphasize the theatrical lighting and the texture of the bride's fringed dress.
The bride and groom make their grand entrance into the reception venue, walking hand-in-hand onto a marble-tiled dance floor as approximately 30-40 guests applaud and cheer on either side. The indoor venue features a distinctive wooden ceiling with large decorative fan-shaped installations in striped cream and tan tones, recessed lighting, and a white-on-white decor palette throughout. The bride wears a strapless fitted white gown with a geometric stripe pattern and mermaid silhouette, while the groom is dressed in a navy blazer with white trousers and white shoes. Guests are dressed predominantly in white and cream attire, and the reception tables in the background are set with white linens, clear ghost chairs, and floral centerpieces with white blooms. This is a wide-angle shot capturing the full room and the energy of the entrance moment.
Close-up detail shot of a four-tier wedding cake displayed on a silver cake board over a white satin-draped table, photographed at an outdoor evening reception. The bottom tier features ivory fondant with vertical pleating, the second tier is covered in silver chunky glitter or crushed sequin texture, the third tier is smooth ivory fondant with a rhinestone band, and the top tier is smooth ivory. A cascading arrangement of white sugar flowers with rhinestone centers runs from the top to the bottom of the cake. In the blurred background, guests in formal attire are visible under pink ambient uplighting against a dark night sky.
Close-up detail shot of a wedding reception dessert course being served by a staff member's hand. The white rectangular plate holds three components: a small square dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a silver spoon, a portion of sliced citrus and blood orange segments, and a golden pastry cup filled with passion fruit. Warm bokeh lights are visible in the blurred background, suggesting candlelit reception decor. The presentation style is modern and plated, indicative of a formal sit-down dinner service.
A close-up detail shot of a wedding reception table set in an indoor venue with dramatic blue uplighting. The centerpiece features tall clear cylinder vases with floating candles and submerged white floral elements, grouped together alongside a taller vase holding tropical monstera leaves. The white linen tablecloth is set with wine glasses, silverware, and white folded napkins on white charger plates accented with small beaded details. The decor palette is modern and minimal, combining white, clear glass, and tropical greenery against the vivid blue ambient lighting that fills the background room.

The reception moved to La Residence Departementale du Gosier, where a garden setting opened with champagne, steel band music, and laughter drifting through the palm-shaded courtyard. Dessert service added a refined touch as the evening transitioned into dancing. The celebration carried the energy of both African and Caribbean heritages.

Flat Lays

Close-up detail shot of a ring exchange moment during an outdoor beach ceremony, with the groom in a dark navy suit and white dress shirt placing a ring on the bride's finger. A small white ceremony altar or table is visible in the background, decorated with what appears to be a sand ceremony vessel and greenery. The setting is a sandy beach with tropical foliage and a body of water visible in the soft-focus background. The composition tightly frames the couple's hands, highlighting the ring and the groom's silver watch bracelet.
Close-up detail shot of a bride's hand resting against the bodice of her ivory lace wedding dress, showcasing a halo-style diamond engagement ring alongside a thin diamond wedding band on her ring finger. The nails are painted a soft blush-nude. The dress features intricate geometric lace paneling with layered crochet-style trim details. The image is tightly framed to highlight both the rings and the dress texture.
A flat lay detail shot of a wedding stationery suite arranged on a grey linen textile background. The suite includes multiple pieces of hand-torn deckle-edge paper in ivory and blush tones, featuring hand-calligraphed text, a watercolor illustration of a building on the main invitation, and gold leaf accents. Styling accessories include loose mauve and pink pansy and sweet pea blooms, a wax seal stamp with a wooden handle, two small glass ink wells, vintage postage stamps, and a small botanical-printed card with a red wax seal. The overall palette is blush, ivory, and gold with a romantic, handcrafted aesthetic.
A close-up detail shot of a bride's back, showcasing an ivory lace wedding dress with a geometric chevron lace pattern and a column of fabric-covered buttons running down the spine. A lace-edged veil is visible along the left side of the frame. A hand — wearing silver stacked rings and a silver bangle bracelet — rests gently on the bride's waist, likely the groom's hand. The composition is tightly cropped to highlight the dress construction, accessories, and the contrast between the intricate ivory lace and the couple's skin tones.
Close-up detail shot of a ring bearer holding a geometric rose gold and glass terrarium-style ring box during a wedding ceremony. The terrarium is filled with white sand, small green foliage sprigs, and holds two wedding bands alongside what appears to be a rose gold chain. The person holding it is dressed in white, and a blurred figure in black shoes is visible in the background. The styling is modern and geometric, with the rose gold metal frame forming a diamond/teardrop shape as an intentional alternative to a traditional ring pillow.
Close-up detail shot of two wedding rings — a plain silver band and a diamond engagement ring paired with a diamond wedding band — displayed inside a geometric gold-framed glass terrarium. The terrarium interior is styled with sand, small seashells, green fern sprigs, sage-colored succulents, and a small piece of dried coral, creating a coastal or beach-themed ring display. The terrarium sits on an orange fabric surface, with a blue and yellow floral embroidered textile visible in the soft-focus background.

The wedding stationery suite was arranged on a grey linen background, with hand-lettered details and tropical motifs echoing the island palette. Gold accents, shell details, and linen textures tied the flat lay collection to the couple's vision of tropical chic, each element styled with deliberate warmth and precision.

More from the Day

A bridal portrait taken outdoors at what appears to be a historic stone fortification or ruins, with wide stone steps, a wooden bridge or walkway, and low stone walls visible in the background. The bride stands with her back to the camera, wearing a fitted strapless ivory gown with horizontal stripe detailing, a low open back with button closures down the spine, and a long cathedral train spread across the stone ground. Her long cathedral-length veil with scalloped lace trim is caught in the wind and billows dramatically upward and across the frame, filling much of the upper portion of the image. The shot is a full-length portrait from behind, emphasizing the dress construction, the sweeping train, and the movement of the veil against the hazy, overcast sky.
A bridal portrait of a solo bride standing on a wooden-railed stone bridge or walkway at what appears to be a historic fort or ruins. The bride wears a backless white gown with an upswept hairstyle and a long cathedral-length veil with lace trim that is caught in the wind and billows dramatically to the left of the frame. She is posed in three-quarter profile, looking away from the camera toward the ruins. A tree with red-orange blossoms is visible in the background between stone pillars. The image is a wide portrait shot with the flowing veil as a strong compositional element.
Wide exterior shot of a venue building featuring a white-painted single-story structure with a dark red roof, dormer windows, and a decorative white arched entrance pergola with hanging metallic curtain strands. The building has large dark-framed windows and wall-mounted lighting along its facade. The entrance is approached via a curved paved pathway surrounding a well-maintained lawn. No people are visible in the image. Potential venue feature image.
A detail close-up shot of a pair of white satin bridal heels with crossed straps, a peep toe, and slingback ankle straps, resting on a weathered wooden ledge above a decorative stone or concrete panel featuring a repeating floral relief pattern. The insoles are branded with what appears to read 'Colorful Creations.' The shoes are white against a textured grey wall background, with the stone floral panel in muted beige and grey tones beneath them. The styling is classic bridal.
A steel drum band of four musicians performs outdoors on a lawn during what appears to be a wedding cocktail hour or reception. The musicians are dressed in matching blue polo shirts and are playing colorful painted steel pan drums — the barrels feature tropical-themed artwork in yellow, green, and red tones, with a phone number and text visible on one drum. The setting is an outdoor garden area in front of a low-rise venue building with a covered terrace, with palm trees visible in the background. The shot is a wide, candid performance photo taken at ground level during late afternoon or early evening light.
A couple portrait taken outdoors at a coastal setting, with the bride and groom photographed from behind as they walk toward a sandy beach. The groom wears a dark navy blazer with white trousers, while the bride wears a form-fitting backless gown featuring an embroidered leaf or geometric pattern with a cathedral-length veil edged in lace trim, and her hair styled in an updo. The composition is a medium full-length shot capturing the full train of both the dress and veil trailing across the lawn. The overall styling leans toward a destination beach wedding aesthetic.
