Rustic Romantic Wedding in Languedoc Roussillon Region

wedding in Languedoc Roussillon Region

We are taking a little break from inspiration boards for a couple of weeks as I have so many beautiful real weddings and styled shoots that I am jumping at the chance to share with you.  Today we are off to the South of France near Montpellier for a rustic romantic wedding in the Languedoc Roussillon Region of France.

You know that I love the Languedoc and the beautiful scenery captured by Nordica Photography is a true testiment to why the region has so much to give as a destination wedding location.

Bride Marianne takes us through her big day: “As we both live and work abroad, the main emphasis was to get close family and friends together and have a big party! When we first started dating, we visited friends in a rural medieval village in the South of France, where we had fallen in love with the scenery, food and wine as well as each other.

We knew this would make the perfect setting far away from the usual touristic areas. We were fortunate to find a venue that also provided accommodation for the majority of our guests creating a homely feel.

The Chateau is the epitome of rustic French charm, so we didn’t want to change anything about it. Our wedding can definitely be described as DIY, with trips to the local markets to buy flowers and handmade decorations or items borrowed from friends in the locality.

Potted flowers were used to decorate the marquee, which continue to thrive in a friend’s garden. We bought regional wine and bubbly from the local vineyards and served Laurent Perrier Rose with the evening meal as our touch of decadence.

The French are renowned for their quality of food and we had no difficulties sourcing local caterers to create lip-smacking regional delights such as monkfish and lamb topped off with the most sumptuous croquembouche (traditional French wedding cake).

Fun was definitely the order of the day with garden games such as giant jenga, and a caricaturist to produce Hollywood style drawings of our guests. After the meal, the festivities continued with a live band and dancing into the night.

The biggest and most important decision was flying in the talented Jakob, from Nordica Photography, who not only beautifully captured the ambience of our day but took several artistic shots of the setting, which will look great framed.
