Happy Wednesday everyone! Today on the blog we are being shown around the fantastic world of statement floral designs. And to guide us on our journey, we are in the very capable and talented hands of Lisa Gatenby of French Flower Style.
Lisa will be sharing tips on how to find the perfect florist to create your statement floral design, and will also be giving a run down on the areas that are perfect for such designs.
Over to Lisa…
In the last year I have noticed an upsurge of clients desiring a statement piece of floristry such as a grand floral archway , floral chandelier, or romantically dressed staircase to decorate and accentuate a beautiful corner of their venue as a backdrop to some memorable photographs.

Choosing your florals for your special day can be very overwhelming, the thing to remember is that flowers for your wedding day are there to compliment your venue and to add to the overall ambience of your day.

It’s always a good idea to work with a florist that either knows the venue well or is prepared to do a site visit so that you can discuss and decide the key areas that will be used and will most benefit from the use of floral decoration. Area’s to consider dressing with a statement floral design are:
- Staircases both indoor or outdoor. This could be as simple as a foliage garland running down the banister to opulent florals and lighting running along the banister and steps .
- Structures that will be the centre of the ceremony can be dressed with floral garlands or freestanding floral arrangements which compliment the shape and style of the structure.
- Entrance areas . Maybe the entrance to the ceremony could have an arch structure or freestanding floral arrangements.
- The focal points of the dining area, maybe statement flowers for the the head table or in a marquee, a hanging design for the vast white ceiling.
