For those lovers of nature and great horizons, we have a wonderful Serre Chevalier mountain wedding for you photographed by Zephyr & Luna. For this couple, it was obvious that their wedding had to be organized in the open air. They naturally chose the peaks of Serre-Chevalier in the Hautes-Alpes because of their history of running in the mountains and love for altitude. It was a two day long wedding with mixed atmosphere, like their origins and their love. Let’s hear from the bride, Perle, about how this sporty duo met… “After 30km, 1600m of elevation gain, 2,200m of negative elevation, a state of extraordinary tiredness and leg pains to no longer stand up, who could have imagined that I would cross at my very first race with the man who would soon become the man of my life. I thought to myself, but how could he run so fast? After the weekend, I checked my computer to consult the results of the runners and after some research on social media, I sent him a little congratulatory message… Since then we never left each other. From the first rendez-vous, we realized that our relationship would be more than a short adventure. After only a few months into the relationship, we had shared so many things and already had so many projects. Getting married, starting a family was obvious but when? Nearly a year and 3 months after our meeting during the summer holidays on a boat, Baptiste knelt under the most beautiful sunsets to pop the question. He started improvising a wonderful declaration of love that completely overturned me. After this moment nothing was the same, we were on a small cloud and we felt bound by love, complicity, and infallible confidence. Both mountain lovers and crazy about nature, we obviously wanted a wedding with that vision and we wanted a 2-day long event. It was not easy to reconcile the practical side with the dream of getting married on top of a mountain. For the first day, we dreamed of a country wedding, hipster and mountain and for the second day, a bohemian atmosphere with some oriental touches to represent my Algerian origins. For the first day, the access road had worried us a lot for the 150 guests, we do not regret having organized our reception in a beautiful chalet Le pi-mai, perched at more than 1,900m altitude and located in the heart of the Serre-Chevalier ski area in the Hautes-Alpes. It was an idyllic place that we love a lot and that gave us a lot of joy and emotion. Concerning the second day, we took simpler access and for the ceremony, we chose to celebrate our spiritual union in a field facing a mountain. I loved it because it was in the same town where I was born! The whole day was orchestrated at Le Frog, a restaurant ideally located at the foot of the slopes. The venue was typically Scottish in a style that we like, rustic and very warm. It also reminded us of the country where we joined a few months ago with our awesome photographer for an engagement session that was so adventurous. God knows we love that place! The preparations were long and tedious. In all honesty, when I think about it I always say “phew, it’s behind us”! We can not thank enough Jaimi my childhood friend, his Mom Die, Elodie, Fabienne and all the team who did a fabulous job! Baptiste was not as involved as I would have liked, so I often felt desperate, telling myself that I’ll never get there. I must admit that I wanted to do a lot of things. Organize a wedding over 2 days and in 2 different places and themes, it’s still a big challenge! Having a little too much attention to detail, I had a hard time taking a step back and I spent my time hesitating and changing my mind about everything… so it took me a crazy time and a crazy energy! Fortunately, I was able to count on our respective families and our loved ones who helped us a lot! Obviously, I do not regret this little year of preparation. Even if it was not always easy planning a Serre Chevalier mountain wedding, every detail was what made part of this day so special and unforgettable. Always say that if you go through the preparation stage, you are ready for the future. And the D-day… This is not a myth, it was really the most beautiful days of our life, to be with the people who are most loved in the world to celebrate Love with a great L is indescribable happiness. We completely let go and tried to make the most of our guests. Our families, our relatives, and vendors have really surpassed our expectations, we just had to let us go and for that, we will never thank them enough!
We had beautiful weather and we were in a dream environment. The food was awesome, service, aperitif, meal, everything was really up to our expectations. The bands and DJ were great, the atmosphere was on point! The second day, for 1 hour the DJ played classic Algerian dance music, it was a mandatory passage and I was looking forward to it. I had a beautiful princess dress from the Sahara that I loved wearing. This day was super special for me, because I shared my culture with all of my loved ones. The whole weekend was a fabulous time, with all the different atmospheres, there were several outfits to be expected and it was really a treat to see that the guests join in with their attires too. They were TOO beautiful! We had incredible surprises: a quick video editing service, sketches sponsored by our loved ones, beautiful speeches, a lot of great attention and not to mention all those words on the Golden Book that touched us so much. It was truly a fabulous and flawless day.” Wow, what an awesome wedding! We loved how this couple incorporated everything they love and their family histories into every part of this wedding weekend. We also loved how this bride was real and shared how difficult the process is planning a Serre Chevalier mountain wedding or any other destination. The day really flies by and you want to soak in every single moment surrounded by your loved ones. Having a planner is so important!
