Antique Rose accented wedding at Chateau La Durantie

There is something magical about assisting people with their wedding planning, it makes me feel like a sort of remote Fairy Wedding Godmother!  That is exactly the feeling that I get today for Maria and Simon’s antique rose accented wedding at Chateau La Durantie, as they found and fell in love with their wedding photographer Craig George, right here on French Wedding Style.

Maria and Simon met during a cookery class and their romantic proposal happened after a tour of London’s best cocktail bars and then a stay at the Langham Hotel.  Thank you to Craig George for submitting another fabulous wedding with us today.

Maria says: “France is our favourite country and we have spent many holidays there over the years. We always wanted to get married in France and the location was perfect!

When it came to looking for where to get married, we actually were looking for a venue in France, did a search for chateaus and Chateau La Durantie came up first! We saw it and fell in love with it straight away. We actually booked the wedding before even seeing the place or getting any feedback, just knew we had to book it!

For our wedding style we wanted something casual, but also we loved Antique roses so worked the colours and theme around that. Also the Chateau brought us some inspiration and wanted to make sure that it was all fitting to the surroundings.

On finding our wedding suppliers I have to say we were lazy, we had only a few choices to make which made deciding so much easier, we had only 2 caterers to choose between which we sampled. We chose the rest of the suppliers on recommendation and with close conversation with our wonderful wedding planner Charlotte Holmes.chateau weddingLK bennett shoespretty flower girlantique rosespronovias wedding dressdestination bridebearded groom

We shopped for our wedding outfits in the UK, I wore a wedding dress by Pronovias, accessories were personalised by my new mother-in-law and groom’s outfit was by Austin Reed, shoes by Loakes.

There were so many wonderful parts of the day but the best ones … were the preparation with my bridesmaids and then the actual ceremony and rest of the day. Most memorable was Craig George saying he’s never known such a merry groom!!

For us we really had no issues with planning a wedding in France, Easy as pie!  And my advice if you are considering a wedding in France, do it! The best wedding ever!! It’s more than just a day and you get to know your guests really well.”
