Sunday’s for me are often spent day-dreaming about the French countryside and today’s real life wedding Bordeaux will just provide further inspiration. Captured by Jacques Mateos from Magic Flight Studio, José and Julie came from California to celebrate their intimate wedding in St Loubès, a village near Bordeaux. The happy coupled travelled with their family and friends to celebrate their wedding at La Villa d’O on top of a hill in the St Emilion vineyard.
Especially in the UK, the weather has often been a cause for concern for couples, but you don’t often have the option of having to wait until the weather cooled down before getting married! The day of the wedding in the countryside just 15 mins outside Bordeaux was blistering and too warm to walk, so whilst guests enjoyed the swimming pool and shaded areas the couple leisurely proceeded with their wedding preparations.
Once slightly cooler the wedding ceremony was conducted under the canopy provided by a large tree and doubled up as a sign of destiny to protect the couple and their union.
Jacques said: “An amazing venue, “hotel de charme”, a team giving to the guest the feeling they were on vacation, always relaxed but always efficient especially due to the arrangement changes with the blistering sun. It was a really unique wedding in a so unique venue, thank you for sharing… i will never forget these moments, never!”
The outdoor marquee, with the drapes and comfy looking chairs is one of my favourite outdoor receptions featured on the blog!

I didn’t think it was possible to “be officially married” outside of town hall (la mairie) in France. Is that correct? Can you confirm it is possible to have a ceremony in a location of my choice?
To find out more about the legal requirements for getting married in France read http://www.frenchweddingstyle.com/destination-wedding-in-france the main part is the 40 day residency requirement to ‘legally’ get married.

Carcassonne is lovely! You do need to legally get married in the town hall and then most couples have what they class as their ‘wedding’ in a location of their choice with a celebrant. There are a huge variety of different english/ french speaking celebrants in France, example http://celebrantsinfrance.co.uk/
Oooh, I love the seats for the wedding breakfast!
