Magical rainy wedding day in Paris

wedding day in Paris

You might read rainy wedding day in Paris and think, oh what a shame!  But don’t, Paris in the rain opens up another world of magic in Paris that isn’t seen during beautiful sunny days. As all brides and planners will tell you, you can plan a beautiful wedding in sunny Provence, an outdoor ceremony in August in the Dordogne or a summer wedding gazing at Mont Blanc and you have no control over the weather.

At these times you have two options available to you when it comes to your wedding day.  Collapse in a heap saying your day is ruined, or embrace the circumstances that you have and find the new magic, which is exactly what our real couple Rachel and Virgil did with the help of their photographer Audrey from One and Only Paris Photography.

Before handing over to Bride Rachel, I would like to thank One and Only Paris Photography for submitting this beautiful wedding.

Bride Rachel takes us through their Paris love story: “From the moment we got engaged, Virgil and I knew we wanted to have an intimate wedding abroad. Paris is such a special place to us. Every time we leave, we must immediately start planning our next trip back.

So to get married there was really a natural choice.

We wanted to plan a wedding that celebrated not only our love for each other but also our love for Paris. Ladurée macarons were a must, and of course we would trust l’Artisan Fleuriste for our flowers. We even worked with our favorite Champagne shop, Des Bulles Sinon Rien, to pick out the perfect bubbles to sip on post ceremony.

With an intimate wedding it was really important for us to have a photographer that would capture all of the details for our friends and family back home, and One and Only Paris did just that.

Leading up to the wedding, I was really worried that it would rain and ruin everything. It did rain, but I’m actually glad it did. So many writers and movies mention how magical Paris is in the rain, and it is true. The local Parisians even said that they consider rain on your wedding day to be good luck. Not to mention, it made for some of the most romantic pictures – running away to escape the rain. So looking back, I should have known that nothing really can ruin such a magical day.

My favorite part of the wedding was waking up the next morning to breakfast in bed in our beautiful hotel suite at Le Meurice. We spent the whole morning sipping on champagne and reliving the entire day. I still get giddy thinking of it.”
