Today is the second in the series of going behind the scenes to find out more about the support workers and unseen heroes who make weddings truly memorable. Today we are going to find out more about Emilie, from Mariages d’Orfevre wedding planner in Nord Pas de Calais in Northern France.
Emilie:“I started dreaming about becoming a wedding planner 10 years ago, but this was too early, a planner wasnt even a real job in France, so I worked in the event industry, organising fairs and events for companies. I decided to spending some time in Vancouver gaining some experience I completed formal training to become a wedding planner. I loved the training and it gave me the confidence t come back to France and launch my services over here.
I think the biggest skill when it comes to being a wedding planner is organisation, organisation and organisation… also creativity and patience are key qualities. I provide wedding planning services across Northern France above Paris, no matter what the location church, rustic outdoor meadow or whatever location is right for the couple.
I work with many destination couples and as you rarely get to meet face to face, understanding their needs so you can plan and manager their day is crucial. This involves thousands of questions, understanding any cultural differences and where they want to include French traditions – its important to talk through every detail.
My favourite part of the planning process is the first meeting, when I get to hear all the dreams for the big day.
But you can’t beat the emotions of actually working on the BIG day when weeks and months of work come down to just one day that everyone at the wedding with remember. Everything as to be perfect. The best thing about being a wedding planner is I get to meet people, happy, in love, talking about being life long partners.
I don’t have any packages, I work “on demand” some couples want my help to plan the whole wedding whilst some others are looking for help on the day … my role is to help however you need.”
