For nearly two years now, I have worked away from behind my screen, working as much and as hard as I could to turn my dream of a blog filled with French wedding inspiration into a reality, plus turn it from a hobby into a viable business.
I am so delighted to have been able to feature your weddings, whether photographer, planner, supplier or bride and feel a part of your day as I compile posts. Many lessons learnt along the way and I have loved watching French Wedding Style grow to where it is today.
This all seemed cemented two weeks ago, when I found out the blog has been nominated for Best International Wedding Blog at the Wedding Magazine awards. I am still buzzing from the news and to be in a category with wedding blog founders and icons Style Me Pretty is amazing!
The winners will be announced at a glam awards ceremony on The Ritz in London on 8th October and I have complete stage fright!
This is going to be a room filled with bloggers from all walks of life including some of the founders of wedding blogs in the UK Rock n Roll Bride, Rock My Wedding, Boho Weddings and Love My Dress. This is going to be a room filled with bloggers who have met before, networked and socialised together. This is going to be a room where I know no-one!
Within the shortlist there are a handful of bloggers who I network with online, but have never met. We have our own little online support group and some of these fabulous ladies are going to the award and I can’t wait to meet them in real life. As I have never shared a picture of myself on the blog (something that I intend to reconcile soon), the lovely Sonia asked how she would recognise me!
But it is a step out of my comfort zone and whilst I am looking forward to it, I am also a little nervous.
I worry that I am not glam enough, not smart enough, not trendy enough, not influential enough, not pretty enough and not successful enough…..
But if I listed to fear I would not have started the blog in the first place. So I am going to find myself a dress that I feel fabulous in, put on killer heels and my favourite Chanel lipstick, take a deep breath and walk into that room, find a glass of champagne and introduce myself to a total stranger.
After all, whether in business, life or for your wedding day, we all have our own insecurities, but it is how we deal with them that matters.
P.S. Thank you if you voted in the first round of nominations for the Wedding Magazine Awards, but if you want the blog to be considered for the top prize don’t forget to vote again here or click the Wedding Magazine Awards logo on the right hand side.

You were good enough to be nominated and that is enough.
Good luck. Let go and enjoy!
Nell and Muffie
I feel this way a lot. Im sure youll do awesome.. Congrats!
I can totally identify with this, well not the nomination part! (Congratulations!!) but sometimes it feels good to be put out of our comfort zone! You go girl! Xxx have a fab day xxx
I totally feel the same!
So thrilled to be short-listed but scared half to death at the prospect of meeting all of my blogging heroes!
You will absolutely rock the awards and meet some incredible and inspiring people and cement relationships that have previously just been a hi or a RT here and there and most of all you will have a fabulous time.
Rock that dress, those heels and the lippy and have a glass of bubbly for me too! 🙂
Lisa x
Hi lovely lady!
I am sooooo excited to meet you 🙂 please don’t worry and know that I [and probably most of us] will be crapping ourselves too!
I have all the same fears, not pretty, intelligent, slim, stylish, etc etc enough…
To top it off I have piled on LOADS of weight so people are probably gonna do a double take or not recognise me from my images.
In truth most people are LOVELY you do get a few jealous bitches 😉 but that’s there problem!
Sling on your best frock and know you can come party with me! Ps my hubby is just the most adorable and friendly guy and I’m dragging him along too.
PPs. I will look out for your hands 😉
Much love,
Sonia XxX
You are fabulous and an daily inspiration. Even if you don’t fully believe in yourself yet, we all do! Fake it until you make it! But I think you have already made it 😉
Krystal <3
You are all so fabulous and lovely! Thank you for your comments and nice to know that I am not the only scaredy cat out there.
@Muffie and Nell Thank you ladies, hope your enjoying your lovely life as a Mrs x
@Kuni thank you xx
@lisa marie Are you both going to have a chance to be there? Especially since your French wedding appeared on the blog, it would be great to meet you x
@Sonia The lovely hubby is my plus one, but to be fair he is the techi brains behind the operation, so as much a night for him as myself.
@Krystal What an awesome comment, thank you so much means a lot xx
Hey! If I start my own bloggers-who-have-never-been-out-to-industry-awards-before-and-are-terrified club will you join?? 😉 We are all in the same boat. Worried we’ll be laughed at (“who on earth voted for them?!”), ignored (“Wedding Sparrow who?”) or just left out of cliques of people who already know each other. It’ll be a great opportunity to get to know each other! Will you be wearing a red carnation?? 😉
See you there!!! 😀
Sara (Wedding Sparrow)
@weddingsparrow Count me in for that club! Not a red carnation, but I have seen a bright red dress that I have my eye on 😉 Not hard to spot, jet black hair, crazy large geek chic glasses, bright red lipstick usually bundled up in a vintage style. Looking forward to meeting you Sara xx
Look forward to it too! No idea what I’ll be wearing! But if you wave and I don’t respond it’s because I won’t have my glasses on 😀
Hi Monique,
I will be a newbie at the awards too, so there will be plenty of us! Your dress sounds amazing, I need to get on it and start looking too!
Wedding Sparrow – is there room for one more in your club?!!
Look forward to meeting you both there.
Jemma xx
(You Mean The World To Me)
@Jemma wonderful more people in our club! Looking forward to meeting you Jemma xx
Hi Jemma! Always room in the club for more! The newbie group!! Watch out ‘old’ blogs! The new kids are in town! 😉
As a new blogger myself, I am inspired by your blog, and your honesty. 🙂 As a wedding blogger in general, I feel I have a great group of ladies that I get to look up to!
Good luck to you and the other nominees at the awards show! Maybe someday I’ll make it there too!
@jen thank you for your sweet comment. Keep working away and it’s a great point to work towards for next year xxx
