You met her a couple of weeks ago, Hollie Nilsson one of our gorgeous new Belle Brides who is getting married this autumn and is sharing her journey to planning a Paris wedding.
Introduction concluded, in her first solo post we get to find out why Hollie and fiancé Bronson decided to leave the fair shores of their native Australia and travel to Paris for an intimate wedding.
Hollie: “I never imagined getting married in Paris but now it’s happening it really does seem like one of the best decisions my fiancé and I have ever made.
When my fiancé proposed we had every intention on getting married in Queensland, Australia, which is where we live. It wasn’t until we started researching venues and the cost of a wedding in Queensland that we even thought about eloping. My Dad once said to me it would be easier to run away and get married overseas, I never took the idea seriously until I looked at the quote from one venue and realised it was over $20,000 and I sat back and thought that is the same amount it would cost to have a wonderful holiday and get married overseas.
Do not get me wrong, I love the idea of having all my family and friends around me celebrating such a special day but at the same time I think it is a lot of money to spend on one day. My fiancé Bronson and I sat down seriously and spoke about eloping and getting married in the magical city of Paris. After a lot of discussing and researching we decided that getting married in Paris felt like the right thing to do and we now had the difficult task of telling all our family and friends.
Bronson and I decided that because we knew some of our family members would not be able to make it to Paris and some would, it would be fair if we didn’t invite anybody then when we return to make it legal we would have a small church ceremony.

I think I was most nervous about telling my Mum about our decision, I thought she would be extremely upset that her eldest daughter and first daughter to get engaged was getting married and she wouldn’t be there. She took it surprisingly well, once we explained the situation and the reason behind our decision, she understood and was very happy for us.
The next stage for Bronson and I was to plan our engagement party, since we were not having a big wedding we decided to have a big engagement party. I have been treating my engagement party a little bit like the wedding I would have had if I were to have a big wedding at home. My friend Lauren owns La Belle Invitation’s so I asked her to make very elegant and quite wedding like invitations.
Bronson and I are both originally from Melbourne, Victoria so we decided that we would have out engagement down there as most of our family still live in Melbourne. I had researched a few venues but there was one venue that really stood out for me, we made a trip down to Melbourne to check out venues and this venue was just perfect, everything we were looking for.
I like to be hands on and creative so I decided that I was going to make the table decorations and a few other things to make the Party reflect Bronson and I as a couple. We organised an engagement photo shoot with my friend from Style Inc Photography and I started getting creative making a photo board, wishing well, table decorations and welcome sign.

Our engagement party is on the 10th of August so in my next blog I will have some photos of the night and all the decorations I made.
I am extremely excited to have been chosen as a Belle Bride and I can wait to share my experience planning and eloping to France to marry the man of my dreams.”
What a beautiful venue in Melbourne, I am super excited to see how Hollie’s engagement party turned out and the super cute dogs name in the photo is Willow.
