It is International Saturday on the blog as we are off to New York for a French style wedding at the luxurious New York Palace.   Vanessa and Thierry planned their French styled wedding using Eiffel Tower place settings, an entravegant gold embellished wedding cake all mixed with classic New York style.

Photographer Jessica Schmitt takes us through the big day:  “New York City is hectic: people are rushing, taxis are speeding by, and everything seems to move at lightening speed. However, time slowed down at the famous and luxurious New York Palace as Vanessa and Thierry prepared for their wedding.

Vanessa was wearing a gorgeous white gown with silver beading and sparkly shoes. Thierry wore a very classic black suit.

They separately made their way to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, each excited for the big reveal. Candles and stained glass surrounded them as they said their vows.

Vanessa shares one of her favorite moments, “that first glance from Thierry as he was waiting for me by the altar was perfect.

The couple returned to the New York Palace to have their reception in the Villard Mansion. Vanessa and Thierry opted for a very elegant and classy French theme with Eiffel Tower place cards, Ladurée macaroons, Grand Marnier favors, and signs on their chairs which read “Madame” and “Monsieur”.  They also had a lovely station for signing the guestbook and dropping off cards.

The couple’s friends and family were all very involved in the reception. Thierry’s son Christopher gave a heart-warming speech along with one from Vanessa’s father. Vanessa credits her mom for planning most of the day.

From Vanessa: “None of this day would have been possible without the hard work of my beautiful mother Christine. She took my vision and ran with it. The amount of work and time she put into this day allowed us to be free of any stress. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts.”

After much dancing to music from DJ Joe Dunn of Aria Melody, it was time for the cake. Vanessa and Thierry knew the importance of having a delicious and gorgeous wedding cake, which is why they had theirs made by Ron Ben-Israel. It had light blue fondant embellished with gold and their monogram. The fondant orchid cake toppers made the cake look even classier.

From Vanessa: Eating is one of our favorite things to do. I usually hate to share my food, so Thierry and our guests were shocked I didn’t run out the door with our heavenly cake. Let me tell you, I was tempted! Ron Ben-Israel created unique and lasting memories for our mouths! The cake was not only visually stunning, but one of the most incredible desserts we’ve ever tasted.

When the reception was over, all the guests grabbed sparklers and headed to the courtyard. This lit the path and was a very fun way to end the evening.
