They took the opportunity to fit in a pre-wedding shoot.

After visiting several venues, the couple chose their perfect venue near the Pyrenees mountains in South West France, Château St Michel, and are getting married at the end of August.  They hired Mark Ward from Awardweddings to capture their big day in photography and with a wedding film. Whilst on a planning visit with their planner Clémentine, also from Awardweddings, they took the opportunity to fit in a pre-wedding shoot.

The importance of a pre-wedding planning trip

A planning trip is an excellent opportunity to meet your suppliers and discuss your big day wishes and requirements face to face. It makes it easier to communicate subtleties, and see with your own eyes, your venue in order to adjust your plans.” recommends Clémentine.  Over a weekend early April, Carly and Ben stayed at their venue and had their catering and wine tasting, planning and styling session, and met their celebrant and hair & make-up artist. They planned this just before their pre-wedding shoot so Carly would have a bit of professional care.
The pre-wedding shoot style :

We wanted to capture them in their everyday laid back style.

The couple chose a natural style to represent them as they are in real life. We wanted to capture them in their everyday laid back style.

I always recommend to wear plain clothes to make sure it doesn’t clash with the scenery and you’re happy when looking at your photos in years to come!” says Mark.Pyrenees Sunset Engagement in the mountainsThe pre-wedding shoot location :

There are plenty of locations to choose from for a pre-wedding shoot: the venue itself, the local town and as in most French places, the local natural surroundings.

As travel lovers, and because the area is so beautiful, they wanted to explore and get some photos in the surroundings of the chateau.

Not so familiar with the area, Mark recommended some magical hidden spots to get a mixture of sceneries and achieve great scenery. They headed to a local place in the mountains that offered a variety of backdrops: forest, mountain, and fields.
“It’s not every day that you get photos of yourself as a couple so enjoy the experience and the memories!” says Clémentine. “It is also a great way to get to know your photographer and for me, it’s always a privilege to have this time with my couples.” adds Mark.

We know Carly and Ben are even more excited for their big day and feel more comfortable having seen the venue and worked closely with the vendors. Watch out in a few months for their wedding day photos – coming this Fall!
