Happy Friday lovelies, we have a wonderful sunny French Island Wedding on Belle île en Mer to brighten up your day, featuring a beautiful church with breathtaking stained glass windows, an elegant strapless Stéphanie Allin wedding dress which ties with a bow at the back.
We even have a few shots from the couples engagement shoot also taken in the idyllic town! French villages are just wonderful for an engagement shoot back drop and really add to the story of the shoot. Many photographers if flying in for a destination wedding will happily arrange with the bride and groom an engagement session the day before the big day.
Photographer Antoine Monfajon will be walking us through today’s wedding…
“Belle île en Mer is one of the most beautiful French islands. It is situated in the Gulf of Morbihan, not far from the coastal town of Quiberon. Where ever you are, on the island, the sea is never far away.”
“Here everything is charming: the houses are painted in bright white, the windows hidden by blue shutters, steep paths separate the homes, nobody can be indifferent. Only a few islanders have cars, this island is a photographers dream!”
“During this season, there are few tourists most of them have returned to the mainland.
At the end of September, it is a perfect time to be outdoors, it is warm and sunny, with a few clouds. the light is mellow and offers good opportunities for a wedding report.”
“After an hour on the ferry from Quiberon the guests arrive at the Port of Le Palais, the main town of the island. The bride and groom are waiting at the Port to welcome their guests, many of which, they have not seen for a long time.”
“Everyone goes to find their accommodation and prepare for the wedding ceremony. The town is small, the church and marriage office are a few steps apart. I love the atmosphere, friendly and relaxing, every one seems to know each other.”
“The bride has chosen to dress in the home of her parents which is close to the hotel. The house is situated on a cliff overlooking the Sea.”
“The groom goes to change in the hotel ‘La Citadelle Vauban’ a charming and luxurious hotel, it overlooks the town and Port and is the best on the island. The boats coming and going in the Port remind you that you are on an island, and the light reflected from the water allows for wonderful compositions in the large room.
The groom is assisted by his best friend and his father.”
“The intense blue of the sea, the seagulls flying above the cliff, the branches of the trees moving in the wind all add to the beauty of this island and the path that lies ahead for the couple who will soon be married.”
“After the civil ceremony in the town hall the wedding party moves to the church.”
“The afternoon sunlight on the stained glass windows in the church creates a light of high contrasts and adds a lively color to the faces of the guests.”
“The newlywed couple leave the church to an enormous shower of rice, their joy and happiness is evident.”
“As the sun is getting lower in the sky we set off for a private photo session on a deserted beach, they are able to relax and breath deeply and enjoy the moment away from the excitement of the wedding party.”
“The couple meet their guests again for Champagne cocktails in the garden of ‘La Citadelle Vauban‘. The happy sound of laughter and clink of champagne glasses is backed by the rhyme of the sea and a group of musicians.”
“Dinner is served in a magnificent stone walled hall with many colorful illuminated paper balls hanging from the ceiling”
“The evening is filled with many surprises, speeches, slide shows and everyone dances late into the night.”
