This beautiful chateau in the countryside is perfect for a laidback luxe wedding in the Loire Valley. This newly renovated estate has a multitude of spaces for your big day – lush woodlands for an outdoor marquee wedding, an elegant salon with marble accents, and soon-to-be a beautiful barn for big weddings!
Rachel Overall, from Mirabella Weddings, tells us more about this venue as she shares her experience from styling this stunning shoot…
At the end of a long, winding track, surrounded by luscious fields and meadows of wildflowers, lies the beautiful Chateau de la Ruche. Located in the remote French countryside of the Loire Valley, the chateau has undergone extensive renovation work by British couple Tim and Rebecca and was recently featured on Channel 4’s ‘Escape to the Chateau – DIY’. The chateau is now home to not only a luxurious chambre d’hôte but is also welcoming couples looking for an idyllic French wedding. Currently offering intimate weddings and elopements, as well as marquee weddings in their beautiful woodlands, there are plans well underway to restore the beautiful adjacent barns to cater for larger weddings.
The venue is perfect for couples seeking a slice of laidback French luxury – celebrating with friends and family, drinking fine wines and eating freshly prepared meals from locally sourced produce. Couples can get married in the beautiful gardens and woodlands, inside in the elegant salon complete with marble fireplace, or in the wonderful barns.
Chateau de la Ruche lies close to the historic town of Le Mans – perfect for wandering around the cobblestone streets with its tiny cafes and shops, and stocking up on delicious treats in the large market. It is an easy four hour drive from Calais, or a short hop from Tours airport, with regular flights from London. Situated in the Loire Valley, it is the perfect spot for those looking to indulge in a spot of wine tasting, visiting the nearby vineyards and enjoying the local delicacies. What better way to kickstart your honeymoon and married life?!v
With exquisite attention to detail and the highest standard of finish, the chateau oozes personality and style, blending rustic charm with all the comfort you’d expect from a luxury chateau – such as huge marble fireplaces and elegant chandeliers.
For the shoot, we wanted to embrace the charm of the French countryside. We used the rustic stone barns as the backdrop for our table setting, combining the classic French buildings and furniture with coloured glassware and concrete-style plates to add a contemporary edge and bring the styling into the 21st century.
Flowers and candles were key, and we were able to incorporate some of the blossom and blooms from the grounds to tie it all together. We used pale tones and warm blushes, along with deeper berry tones to tie into the burgundy based stationery suite.
We opted for a beautiful dress by Jesus Peiro, complete with statement skirt and bow. The simple cut was perfect for the understated nature of the venue, with enough wow-factor to be worthy of a chateau wedding.
This shoot has us so inspired for more destination weddings in the Loire valley. Thank you to all the talented vendors who helped create this awesome shoot!
