French Beauty Secrets in Pharmacies part deux!

French beauty secretsJust how do the French ladies manage to look so fabulous without breaking the bank?  Our expert hair and make up artist in France Carey Hawkins, is continuing her series, where she shares those French beauty secrets that  can be found in French Pharmacies and Supermarkets, that certainly won’t break the bank!  An UK expat now living in Poitou Charente, Carey is our eyes and ears for those greatest French finds.

Carey: “The second part of the fascinating world of French pharmacy finds….perfect for all the wonderful Brides and holiday ladies who will be visiting France this year. Time to stock up….

Generally I do find (as I love to bargain hunt!) that most of the major French skincare/beauty brands are cheaper to buy in France, than in the U.K. The exception is the designer marques of Chanel, YSL (even L’Oreal!) etc. that seem to be more expensive!

hair treatment secret

Starting with hair – want that swishy, shiny French girl hair….it is a secret! Actually it’s a product called Phyto Secret De Nuit. This little beauty is an overnight treatment. Not greasy, no silicones and a fabulous treat for beach frazzled or over processed hair. €20.00 – available at all French pharmacies.

The other wonderful hair treatment beloved of French ladies is Leonor Greyl Secret de Beauté. This is a pre-shampoo treatment that uses natural oils to protect and restore damaged ends. Also fabulous to use before hitting the beach or pool. This can also be used as amazing body oil too. It is expensive but you only need to use a very small amount. €49.50 – available Sephora/Cult Beauty.

French Beauty secretsBack to my old faithful favourite – La Roche Posay. Try their Lipikar Baume AP – a superb body lotion, perfect for summer dry shins. With 20% shea butter and omega 3 & oils. €16.25 – available at all French pharmacies.

Last but not least a make up artists favourite lip balm – Nuxe Baume Levres De Miel. A non-greasy/non-sticky balm with an amazing orange/honey smell. Great as a pre- lipstick/gloss base, as lipstick will adhere to it without drying out. Also amazing and gentle for children. My little girl loves it! €12.00 – available at all French pharmacies/Feel Unique.
