Hello and welcome to the weekend! Planning a wedding once you have become parents, can be a difficult task, to plan the wedding of your dreams but to include the children into your big day.
Today’s couple Heidi and Joakim found the perfect balance, with a family wedding in Paris at the Norwegian seamens church followed by a fun tour around Paris. To capture their big day they choose Paris based photographer Fran Boloni of Kiss Me in Paris, who not only captured their big day, but also help with recommendations and advice.
Bride Heidi takes us through their big day: “We met 11 years ago. We were both students, and Joakim had just moved to Trondheim and was new in the city. We actually first met when he asked me for directions. It must have been love at first sight, because we exchanged phone numbers and have been together ever since. We now have three beautiful boys, Oliver (2), William (6) and Jonathan (8) and a house in the suburbs of Trondheim, Norway.
Joakim proposed when our youngest son was just a few weeks old. Our oldest boy videotaped it, and we can hear them laughing in the tape. We can also hear them go; Yew – when I say Yes and give Joakim a big kiss.
We wanted a small wedding with our closest family, whom we love and cherish more than anything in this world. We wanted to include them in our adventure and hopefully give something back to them. We also wanted the wedding to be a part of our holiday and fun for the kids. We decided to go to Paris, because “Paris is always a good idea” (Audry Hepburn).
We choose to get married in the Norwegian seamens church and it was a lovely ceremony held by the Norwegian priest. It is located in the beautiful area of Le Vésinet.
When planning this wedding it was important to us that the kids were included. We wanted a fun and memorable day, and it was important that we had a great photographer that would capture our moment. We looked at one portfolio online and fell in love with Fran from Kiss me in Paris. He recommended hair and make-up team Ciara Costenoble and Charles Gillman. They were all very professional and so nice. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
To celebrate with our family we had a private room at the magical Le Meurice. This was just the perfect place to begin our adventure as husband and wife. No words can describe this experience, it was just perfect.
My wedding dress is a Mori Lee style 1965. I actually wanted a dress that was easy to travel with, but I knew this was my dress. I couldn’t leave the store without it, I felt like a real bride. I especially love the big and wavy skirt. I was lucky to find my dress at “Lises brudesalong”.
Our wedding day in Paris was everything we wanted it to be. Everything we had arranged through internet, turned out to be as good as we had hoped for, even better. Our experience is that people in Paris are very service minded. We never had any problems organizing this wedding from Norway. We asked the hotel, La maison favart, if they could recommend nearby restaurants, flower shop and transportation. They were very helpful.
Thank you Paris for taking such good care of us!
The kids had a great time and was so excited to continue the holiday in Disneyland Paris. ”
