The old saying of three’s a crowd can be applied to honeymoons, although many couples are breaking with convention and taking their kids with them and making trips into family honeymoons. Although the idea of a family honeymoon is not a completely new idea from the 1948 movie title Family Honeymoon staring Fred MacMurray, the idea of a planned family honeymoon at a destination compatible for all members of the family is.
Husband and wife to be Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, fresh off their engagement jetsetted off to the tropical Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador. The couple weren’t look for romantic seclusion taking their six children with them and as they rarely travel without their children, it looks set that they will be planning a family honeymoon following their rumoured french wedding.
The new family honemoon can also be key milestone for second marriages, bringing together both sides of the new family for the first time since the wedding.
Today I am going to be looking at kid friendly destinations and family friendly honeymoons in and around France that are sure to make the honeymoon a family affair.
Family Honeymoon at Hotel Le Bristol Paris
Hotel Le Bristol has a reputation as one of the most luxurious hotels in Paris with its amenities include a sunlit pool and three story spar with a Turkish bath. However it is their Children’s programme which takes care of the children while you can steal some newlywed time and see the romantic sights of Paris.
Family Honeymoon at Chateau Ribagnac
You might recognise Chateau Ribagnac from the TV series No Going Back, which documented the Bergot family and their move fro London to France. Within the Chateau there are family-sized rooms which benefit from additional living space for your family to relax in, that is as well as the communal living rooms. There are also plenty of activities to do in the nearby area including the Le Parc du Reynou Zoo a huge safari park set in the grounds of a ruined chateau.
However at night the family friendly Chateau comes into its own. Once the children have had their dinner, adult dinners are also available sophisticated and unfussy eaten communally AND within baby monitor range of the bedrooms, allowing parents some valuable grown-up and romantic honeymoon time. There is also a full bar service in the lounge for socialising.
Family Honeymoon onboard Wave Charter
Chartering a yacht can be an ideal compromise between a family vacation and romantic honeymoon. The space within Wave allows for the newlyweds to have their own luxurious quarters whilst the children have their own cabin. The professional crew on board Wave can also include a nanny who can travel with the family, allowing for the parents to take advantage of some romantic leisure time while the skipper/crew and nanny entertain the children.
As Wave’s home berth is Port Vauban, Antibes on the Cote d’Azur you can drop anchor in one of the wonderful bays, with warm turqouise sea for the children to play with the onboard inflatables.
