What happens when you combine creative, classy and whimsical? It would be a perfect moment of a beautiful bride in Enzoani dress and a dashing groom tying the knot at Chateau La Gauterie. This special event is captured and documented by Jonny Barratt through his expert photography and story telling.
We see so many beautiful weddings on a daily basis, but if there was one wedding that is totally in dream wedding look book this would be it! A chateau wedding in France – every woman’s ultimate dream is to have this kind of fairy-tale like wedding.
This is Sara and Michael’s love story and journey to the altar.
The gorgeous Sara and Michael met through Instagram. They had a couple of mutual friends and decided to meet up for a drink. Eighteen months later, Michael proposed on a surprise trip to Northern Ireland.
When looking for their venue, they had in their mind a wedding at Chateaux; however, when they came across Chateau La Gauterie, they know it was the one. The interiors and exteriors blew them away!
Sara has been searching for over a year for her perfect dress. She finally found the one at Blue Bow Bridal in County Durham. The gown itself is an Enzoani design. She felt it was the perfect mixture of classy and modern with a traditional twist.
The bridesmaids dresses and shoes were all from ASOS apart from her Bridesmaid Kaylee who was seven months pregnant at the Wedding, so they had her a dress specially made to match the others.
They organised most of the wedding themselves but had a lot of support from the chateau owner, Sarah. The couple chose Jonny of Jonny Barratt to be their photographer. The couple said, ‘Jonny was such good fun! He was a part of the wedding day and you wouldn’t even realise he was taking so many photos! Weddings can be a stressful day and Jonny really made everyone feel at ease. His photos are the best!’
When talking about their Wedding they wanted to keep it clean and classy and let the venue and surroundings do the talking. They went with all white flowers and added a touch of pastels here and there. They said, ‘they had such a beautiful venue, we didn’t need to do much to make it impactful.’
Sara and Michael walked down the aisle to Pentatonix, Can’t help falling in love with you. They worked with their Celebrant Gaynor for months to come up with the perfect humanist ceremony. They filled in a lot of questionnaires about each other to make the perfect reading.
The biggest surprise of the day was how emotional everyone was.
The favourite part of the Wedding was the beautiful wedding marquee which happened by default! Sara said, ‘We were a bit naïve thinking the weather in range would be sunny throughout the whole of June. As we lead up to the wedding, the occasional thunderstorm got us thinking we need to provide some shelter! Luckily the chateau owners were able to find someone available to put up the marquee last minute and they came and built up the beautiful marquee on the grounds.’
When asked what were they looking forward to most as a married couple, they replied, ‘the Honeymoon of course!’
And did they have any advice for those planning their Wedding now?
‘Try and be as organised as possible! Keep a diary or tasks you want to concentrate on over a certain time scale and a folder with all confirmations/contracts to hand. It’s so hard to try and stay relaxed on the day but please try your best just relax and take it all in. Also just remember this day is for you and your fiancée so you don’t need to please all the people all of the time’
Congratulations to Sara and Michael from the team at French Wedding Style!
