Christmas Wedding Inspiration

How are you all going with the festive spirit, Christmas trees up yet?  The Trulove tree went up this weekend, whilst my favourite Christmas film Miracle on 34th Street played in the background.  The cats had a marvelous time, playing with each decoration added and Clyde loves getting into each newly emptied box.

Continuing on in the festive spirit, today’s Christmas Wedding Inspiration is brought to you by French Wedding Planner in London Fabienne Slater from Elian Concept Weddings and Events.

Fabienne: “The festive season is an endless source of ideas for winter weddings. With Christmas getting closer, let’s be inspired by its wonders. In France, there is one region in particular which is bustling with ideas: Alsace. It might not look like the most obvious place to get married in France, but in the run up to Christmas it exudes a magical atmosphere hard to resist!

The feeling is due to the multitude of Marche de Noel – Christmas Markets. The tradition started in Strasbourg, which stages the oldest Christmas Market in France. They have since been popping up in almost every part of the region, from impressive and striking displays in major cities to more cosy and intimate affairs in small towns and villages.

Illuminated pine trees and buildings, sparkling lights, fragrances of cinnamon and roasted chestnuts, choirs and musical bands, all contribute to the Christmas wonderland feeling.

It could not be easier here to recreate the magic on your wedding day: Just browse the alleys of wooden huts to find traditional ornaments, twinkle lights and unique decorative crafts to decorate your tables, discover the tasty “bredele”, the traditional Christmas cookies which will make delightful wedding favours for your guests, warm up with mulled wine and let the magic operate.

The following inspiration board shows ideas to create a subtle Christmas feel without pushing the theme too far: Touches of red and gold on white backgrounds, a few rustic elements and pretty seasonal delicacies.

I leave you with these romantic post-wedding photos from talented Alsatian photographer Claude Masselot who captured beautifully the love and happiness of the couple in the snow and provided the charming pictures of Christmas markets above. Looking for more winter wedding inspiration, head to the French Alps for white wedding ideas.
