International Château Bouffémont Wedding

Two worlds came together at this Château Bouffémont wedding near Paris. This bride from Singapore and her groom from Belgium live in Hong Kong with a diverse international guest list. They wanted a chateau wedding and found the perfect venue thanks to Anne Mulvihill of Fete in France. Read along as she explains all the dreamy details.

Valérie, originally from Singapore, & Brice, originally from Belgium, came to us from Hong Kong. The couple knew they wanted a château wedding that would be conveniently located for both ‘local’ and international guests to get to and they quickly landed on the Château Bouffémont, not far from Paris. Given the eastern and western cultural influence, we decided to work with a Chinoiserie theme. Colors for this summer wedding were a fresh palette of mint green, gold, white and navy blue. Working with Studio French Blue, the invitations set the tone for the event. Joy of Studio French Blue drew a free hand motif that we then carried out throughout the printed materials. The weather on the wedding day turned out to be absolutely gorgeous so we were able to set up the ceremony outside in a semi-circle formation. The bride made a grand entrance down the regal staircase of the chateau as the band played ‘Another Day of Sun’ from the movie La La Land.

As guests enjoyed champagne during the cocktail hour the couple was able to take advantage of the soft golden light for beautiful portraits with the talented Katie Mitchell.

The Chinoiserie theme extended through dinner too by using tall branches of seasonal greenery punctuated with whimsical golden birds on the branches. The place settings were more traditionally French with gold cutlery, gold-rimmed glassware and charger plates. We then paired it with a pale green napkin and nay menus to add a pop of string color. The cake by Synies was also a whimsical creation decorated with delicate branches and birds.

Before the first dance, the bride changed into her second dress for dancing and the coupled impressed their guests with a choreographed first dance to the Dirty Dancing theme song complete with lifts and all!
