Celebrating love with a pre wedding shoot in Paris

I am honoured and thrilled to be Editor of French Wedding Style and to be a part (however small) of someones wedding journey, but seldom do I get to find out more about the couples’ love story that led them up to their wedding.  Today is a treat in as well as a romantic pre wedding shoot in Paris, Pamela and Anthony share their 5 year love story and wedding planning ideas.

Pamela: “Anthony and I met in college in 2005 while interviewing for Resident Assistant positions on campus. I noticed him right away, because he was the only other person, besides me, answering questions during the group interview and I knew he was my competition.

We both not only got the job, but were assigned to work in the same freshmen dorm, on the same floor! We became almost inseparable very quickly, as best friends. Three amazing years and a wonderful friendship later, we kissed for the first time and have never looked back since.

Our friendship has always been most important to us, and when Anthony expressed he wanted to join the Peace Corps, it was a no brainer what my answer should be. We spent the first 2 1/2 years communicating through skype, and traveling back and forth between NY, Mozambique and even London, while I lived there for work.

We’ve been living together since he returned to the U.S. after Peace Corps, and on a beautiful Sunday morning, almost 5 years after we first kissed, he surprised me by driving back to our alma mater , giving me “campus tour” of our relationship , and proposing where we first met as students.

With Anthony being a teacher, we initially thought of a summer wedding, but once we visited Alder Manor for the first time,we were blown away! We knew from the moment we set foot inside the mansion that’s where we wanted to get married, and when they only had a fall date available, we didn’t think twice. We decided on September 21st as our date, and are growing more and more excited with each passing day.

The Idea of a Paris Engagement session started as a joke. We’d already planned to go away midway through the engagement, and when we decided on Paris, I joked that it would be nice to have our engagement photos there. It’s not only the city of love, but has so much character and fits perfectly as the backdrop to our 1920s Great Gatsby themed wedding.

That night, I kept thinking how unique that would be, and by the weekend I had started to research wedding photographers. I found wedding Light Photography, after viewing their work on a french wedding blog, and also on SMP. I Loved how natural and beautiful every shot was, and knew I had found the photographer for our shoot. Olivier and the entire team at Wedding Light were amazing to work with.

He was so easy to talk to and I put both of us at ease on the day of the shoot, making us feel as though we were in our living room taking photos and not among the crowds in Paris. We both LOVED working with him and cannot say enough about the professionalism, talent and enthusiasm Olivier and the entire staff have…. they even went as far as recommending hotels and restaurants to us without us asking.

Our Engagement trip and photo session was everything we hoped for and more, thanks to the wonderful city of Paris and Wedding Light photography!
