Bridal Hair with Tulips

Happy Friday Lovelies, today on the blog we’ve got professional Make Up Artist Olivia Marshall talking about everything you need to know on Bridal Beauty Trends for 2019. Sometimes it can be difficult to try and grasp what is the actual trend when so many articles feature different things. So we’ve gone direct to the professionals for you and here’s the lowdown…

Olivia says “Wedding season is fast upon us and whether your newly engaged and beginning your wedding planning journey, or you need some inspiration for your approaching hair and make-up trials here are some of my favourite bridal beauty trends for 2019.

When looking at future bridal trends we can often forecast what hair and make-up looks are going to be popular by looking at London, New York and Milan Bridal fashion weeks, However, with two beautiful Royal weddings last year, the runway featured inspiration from The Duchess of Sussex – Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie of York.

My favourite hair trend of 2019 and one most definitely inspired by The Duchess of Sussex is the ‘undone Bun’. This do’ is so versatile that it can work for any bride! The most important trick to making this style successful is ensuring that the hair is prepped with texture. Creating soft curls or waves and using a salt spray is the best way to control this style. Partnered with loose waves to frame the face this is the perfect effortless bridal do for warm summer days.

Another royal trend is what I like to call the ‘Modern Tiara’. A beautiful headband or headpiece jewelled with Swarovski and pearls is the bridal accessory of choice this year and can be worn both with an up-do and hair down. Celestial hair slides are continuing to be popular this year and can be attached at the top of your veil for that extra sparkle. Straight hair was featured a lot on runway this year, if your opting for this sleek look having a voluminous blow-dry the morning of your wedding will ensure your hair looks It’s best and adds that extra glossy shine.

Make-up is all about natural, luminous glowing skin this year. Using a glowing primer such as Becca’s Backlighting primer filter creates that glow from within and looks good in every lighting. A trick for getting that healthy flush is using a cream blush, my go to for all brides in summer, and works great on dry skin as powder blusher can often go patchy. Matte skin should be avoided this year, so setting the skin with a light reflecting powder such as Charlotte Tilbury’s Air brush powder ensures the make-up is set beautifully.

Bronzy eyeshadow shades can complement any bride-to-be it’s the perfect way to complete any luminous look and is a timeless bridal look. For extra definition use bronze shadows for a simplified Smokey eye and run a brown gel liner or kohl pencil through your lash line. Finishing of a bronze look with pantone’s colour of the year; coral-pink adding a touch of nude lipstick can ensure this look is wearable for any skin tone.

For a more classic bridal look opt for a rosy blush and a muted rose berry lip, perfect for Autumn and Winter brides.”
