Destination Wedding in Cavaillon, South of France

Wedding in Cavaillon

Today we are off somewhere new on the blog for Gabe and Tiff’s destination wedding in Cavaillon in the South of France.  Cavaillon is in the Vaucluse department,  between Avignon and Aix en Provence and if you are visiting the area be sure to check out the local markets and especially the melons!

Gabe and Tiff’s love story is one that survived living in different continents, visas and ultimately culminated in a beautiful countryside wedding in France, for the joining of two families all captured by Phan Tien.

Bride Tiff takes us through their love story and big day: “Gabe and I met in Sweden in 2010 as we study both abroad for one semester. The following years we continued to see each other,  either in France or the United States. Even if the distance separated us for over three years, we have always made sure to spend our holidays together.  I remember we spent hours on the phone laughing and telling stories of our days. It was wonderful years the beginning of a beautiful love story that is not about to end.

In May 2013, when I had just woken up, I hear someone knocking at the door. I open the door and under my very eyes, I see this handsome guy, that looks suspiciously like my love. Oh no, in fact it is Gabe’s on my landing with millions of roses in his arms! I still cannot believe it! Gabe, who lives thousands of miles away, came to surprise me at my home in a small village in the Haute Savoie. What memories!

The marriage proposal took place the next day in a beautiful restaurant in the area. He went quietly to the bathroom just before dessert and once back, he went to one knee and immediately my heart sank, tears came and I said YES. He was so stressed and I was so excited that we’ve both forgotten the words he spoke (Probably fine sweet words) just before asking me to marry him. This week full of emotions will always remain engraved in me.

In October 2013, after months of waiting to live and work in the United States, I finally got my visa and we moved to Pittsburgh in a small apartment town Centre. I said, “Yes! We would finally be able to see each other every day! “.

We had about 1 year to plan and organize our wedding. We did not know what we would have done without my dad, my mom and my sister who took care of everything in the detail. We couldn’t do a lot of DIY because we were not there and Gabe’s family living in the US, so it took us time to prepare for this event.

We got married in a magical place. I remember the first time I visited this place, we knew immediately that this was the perfect place for our wedding Provençal. We chose this Provencal residence because it represented exactly we were looking for an old country house, the smell of lavender and enough room for family and friends. The religious ceremony was held on Saturday at 16h and after we all went to the farmhouse to finish the celebration. Our friends and family organized us full of surprises throughout the evening. It’s just too cool! The day after wedding, we decided to extend this so unique moment by inviting family and friends come enjoy a delicious brunch around the pool.

It was an unforgettable weekend filled with love and emotions we are delighted to relive through the whole simply exceptional photos of the talented Phan Tien.

I also particularly enjoyed sharing the traditions of a French wedding with my new American family. The only downside, the weekend went too fast!
