With the Cannes Film Festival currently underway it seemed only fitting that today I featured a star studded wedding in Poitou Charentes France from the beautiful Ars-en-Ré commune, on Île de Ré Island in Southwest France.
The international affair was held at the Groom’s Movie star Grandmothers’ (her last movie was with Gerard Depardieu) beautiful private residence on the Island with its own idyllic Mill! The enchanting Island played host to the couples international guests for 4/5 days leading up to the wedding including the Groom’s first cousin Orlando Bloom and his Victoria Secret wife Miranda Kerr.
But no amount of movie stars could detract from the stunning bride who is also an MD, PhD and her groom himself a polar explorer and international advocate on climate change. This is one wedding reception I would have loved to attend for the after dinner conversation alone!
The sun poored into the room for the bridal preparations as the bride, in a stunning backless white lace wedding gown with sheer jacket, looked ready to wow the red carpet herself as she arrived for the outdoor wedding ceremony.
Following the ceremony the couple and their guests headed down to the beach for a glass of champagne to toast the newlyweds whilst international photographer CherieFoto captured group shots.
Whilst the guests enjoyed the beautiful beach view, the couple retreated to capture intimate newlywed portraits that are one of my favourite sections of this wedding. They are different than so many of the traditional wedding photos, filled with drama, emotion and a style that is more fashion editorial in nature, making the images come alive from the page and I love them!
The guests were then treated to a cocktail reception just before 6pm and canapes of Oysters and Foie Gras, before moving through for the traditional wedding breakfast/ dinner and speeches that started at 8pm with the last course finishing at 11:30pm. The formalities over, the couple enjoyed a dramatic first dance including the groom serenading his new wife, before the dance floor was declared open with the last guest standing at 4am!
An Alist wedding set in a beautiful location that could be out of a movie and with a beautiful bridal style to match any Alister walking down the red carpet of Cannes.
