Let’s Shop! Mother of the Bride outfit ideas

When it comes to the fashion involved in a wedding day, there are so many options and style of wedding dresses, but today I am going to be looking at Mother of the Bride outfit ideas. Now before any Mother of the Grooms start waving their handbags at me, of course this post is also aimed at Mother of the Groom outfit ideas as well (just a long title if both 😉 ).

The process involved in choosing a Mother of the Bride/Groom outfit should be the same as the bride, after all the photography with your child on your wedding day is once that you will cherish, not the time to be making a fashion faux pas.

So what is your style?  Are you looking for traditional, something timeless or an outfit that is a little edgier?  The basis of any outfit decision should start with the style of outfit that suits you, and the colours that compliment your skin colour and tone.

Whilst comfort is a factor, the aim of your Mother of the Bride/ Groom outfit is to make you feel fabulous and ultimate photograph well.  So do also take into consideration the brides outfit, grooms styling and how your outfit can compliment the theme.  After all a retro bridal style with relaxed grooms outfit of no jacket and braces in khaki colours, next to a fuchsia pink traditional Mother of the Bride/Groom dress suit with matching hat, is going to jar a little in the photos.

With the help of The Cotswold Frock Shop I am going to be looking at some options and style for Mother of the Bride/ Groom.

  • Evelyn I hope you don’t mind if I ask if you were successful at finding a dress for the wedding. My daughter is getting married in Spain next year and I’m looking for 50’s style vintage dress. I too live in Dublin.

    Kind regards
