French Country style wedding in Washington State

stunning wedding photography on Washington State Photography © Adna Photography on French Wedding Style BlogGood Morning Readers the start of yet another fabulous week and instead of France, we are starting the week with a French country style real wedding in Washington State.

Tracy and Jason planned a breathtaking wedding with tones of ivory, green and vintage silver. The red carpet outdoor ceremony took place at the base of a giant cliff on the banks of the Columbia River, with a seaplane waiting in the background, and the couple exchanged their vows beneath a handmade birch canopy underneath a stunning blue sky.

The couple snuck away with Anda Photography to a nearby winery overlooking a red-rock gorge.   The DIY wedding reception, put together by friends, family and the bride was dripping with DIY flowers, old lace and grandma’s silver.

This is the first sea plane to feature on French Wedding Style, but what a way to arrive at your wedding in style!

Bride Tracy takes us through their big day: “We got married in June on the Columbia River in Central Washington. The weather was perfect this time of year. We wanted a French country wedding – vintage, classic, elegant. This was a DIY wedding. Since the wedding was outside and in a beautiful setting, I didn’t need to go overboard with décor. I tried to focus my effort and budget on just the most important things – dress, flowers, and food. I also utilized my friends and family to help pull everything together. We got a lot of compliments on the special wedding. I think it was special because we kept it small, only our closest family and friends.

We pulled the wedding together using countless google searches and asking everyone I knew, a family friend recommended this restaurant that also caters events. Garlinis Napoletana were great to work with, they helped customize the menu to our tastes, and the food was amazing.

We served dinner buffet style. My favorite food was the steak skewers with balsamic gorgonzola sauce. It was divine and easy to eat. We also had a spaghetti bar with three sauces for the kids and picky eaters.”

As part of our self styled wedding we used EventRents for their beautiful big tents with liner and chandeliers, tables, chairs, dinnerware, red carpet, dancefloor: Since it was a small wedding, we decided to set up the tables in a family style U shape so everyone could see each other and mingle together. We put the dancefloor in the middle of the U.

The flowers were purchased online wholesale FiftyFlowers, we got to pick all my favorites and they were shipped to us on time (and at a great price). We assembled the vases the day before the wedding and they looked beautiful.

We wanted a simple French country look. We found vintage blue mason jars on craigslist in different sizes and old silver plates/tins from Goodwill. We used white candles and white flowers and it created an elegant look. The arbor was the focal point for the wedding ceremony, which was made by my sister and her husband.  They got the white birch from their property and built a beautiful arbor for us.

One of the highlights of the day for the guests was the seaplane rides for guests during the day. The seaplane landed on the river near the property so no one had to travel far, everyone got great pictures and a memorable experience.

  • I cannot imagine anything more romantic than an elegant French inspired wedding

It is said that the French invented “ameir” (love) and I believe it is possibly true for France is a nation steeped in history where Kings ruled from fairytale palaces draped in damask patterned fabrics and furnished with the most finest furniture crafted by gifted artisans of the time.

France has a mystique like no other which lends itself beautifully to a wedding designed in this style and looking through the images I am wooed by the peaceful feeling that emulates from the happy couple and the divine landscape that surrounds them.

As a huge fan of french country i am delighted to have discovered this fabulous site and will happily refer it to my friends who will be enchanted as I have with my time spent here.

  • Hello!
This is a GORGEOUS and seemingly intimate wedding! WOW! Just lovely.
Perhaps I am just not seeing it, but would you be so kind as to share the venue? I am getting married, and this really is what I have been looking for…

    Thank you for your consideration!
    Sarah

  • hello! What a stunning wedding this was…congratulations to a lovely couple! I would also love to know where this is…? Any chance it could be shared? Thank you!

  • I think I found the venue for those who were also wondering, it’s the Cave B Resort near the Gorge in Washington State. If you check the wedding info page, you’ll see pictures very close to the ones on this page. Website: http://cavebresort.com/
